Oh God it's retarded.
They only get a few months use of it a year. Won't let tax payers walk the track for exercise. And they all try to keep up with the Joneses. The keep bring up 20M bond packages here to build a new stadium. Never mind we already have a 17M stadium at th older new high school that could be used. |

Funny how many HS in Alabama ( and other states) play on shitty fields with chain link fences and aluminum bleachers. They manage to produce good athletes anyway

Property taxes are way too high. Oh and the equity thing? Whoopee do. All that means is even if you try to downsize the next house is going to have some inflated price and your money will be tied up there for the duration of ownership too....for which you get the privilege of being taxed on it. Income Tax? Yep. Sales Tax? Yep. 10% most everywhere Property Tax? Yep, got that too. And yet our budget is always fucked and theres always a desire to raise taxes even more. Meanwhile everything is dilapidated and shitty, except that new school they built, that serves as a minimum security prison for the inmates in the City of Birmingham until they can get sent to real prison. |

Winning state football titles is a BIG deal, and brings lots of money into the district.
The Katy area is definitely not hurting for money. |

In my area, in one meeting of the school board, a multi million $ indoor football practice field was approved, a new copy machine for the fine arts department was rejected.

I like football but education should come first. I live in a football small town and all parents care about is if their kids keep a 2.0 to play sports.

They did have an education bond to rebuild 2 schools. They threw two turf fields in there and it was voted down. The butt hurt was epic. Waited a year and tried again without turf fields and it passed. They were laying off teachers at the time.

I am from Texas, born and raised. I played high school football in a pretty badass stadium with lots of booster support for nice stuff and 20k people on Friday nights... This is utterly ridiculous. The older I get the more I think we should remove sports from school and turn them over to the private sector for club leagues. At the NCAA level you can have schools sponsor club teams so they still can have COLLEGE FOOTBALL!!!!! but the kids are actually paid professionals hired by the school and it can be the farm league for the NFL. Hey, hopefully, they can actually use this stadium unlike the $60 million abortion in Allen. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I agree with people who are saying sports should be extra-curricular. The schools should not be involved at all.
Schools should focus on education. If a student wants to play a sport, it should be after school in a private club or organization with no affiliation to any school. |
