ATLANTIC CITY - Authorities on Monday released graphic video of a Williamstown man's fatal shooting by police officers here in March 2014. Antoquan T. Watson, 27, was shot 45 times after a police chase from Pleasantville to Atlantic City. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office posted the the almost-13-minute video on its Facebook page. It cited a state Supreme Court ruling earlier this month that dashcam videos of police-involved shootings should be released in most cases as a matter of public interest. The prosecutor's office noted an Atlantic County grand jury in June 2015 declined to bring criminal indictments against the police officers involved. The chase reportedly began after police responded to a report of a man with a gun at a Pleasantville restaurant, La Escondida II, around 12:30 p.m. on March 27, 2014. A number of patrons observed Watson was carrying a handgun, pointed toward the ceiling, as left the restaurant's bar area, the prosecutor's office said in a June 2015 account of the incident. Witnesses also said Watson "was muttering to himself while walking out of the restaurant, making such statements as, 'I got this, I got this,' and 'This is bull----," the account said. Pleasantville police pursued Watson as he fled the scene, the prosecutor's office said. Officers from Egg Harbor Township and Atlantic City later joined in the 10-mile chase. Watson's SUV, which sometimes reached 85 mph, sped through stop signs and red lights, swerving across lanes and around other vehicles, the video shows. At one point, the video shows, Watson's SUV squeezed between two vehicles that had stopped for a red light, tearing off part of a silver convertible. Watson also fired a shot at police during the chase and brandished his gun at officers standing outside Atlantic City's Public Safety Building as his SUV sped past, according to the prosecutor's account. The chase ended when Watson attempted to run a red light on Atlantic and Missouri avenues at Tangier Outlets and his SUV was clipped by another vehicle. The SUV then spun to a stop in the middle of the street. Watson emerged from the vehicle, firing a handgun and sending at least one officer and several pedestrians running for cover, the video shows. The Gloucester County man continued to fire as he took about a dozen steps toward the police who had pursued him. He fell after being shot, then was struck by a fusillade of bullets as he lay in the street. "The fatal wound was a gunshot to the top of the head that was received after Mr. Watson had fallen to the ground," the prosecutor's account said. Officers involved in the shooting, from the Pleasantville and Atlantic City departments, said they feared Watson "was wearing body armor due to the fact that he appeared to have sustained a number of gunshot wounds, but was able to remain standing." the prosecutor's office said. An autopsy found PCP, a drug that can cause hallucinations, in Watson's system. The prosecutor's office said between 64 and 74 shots were fired during a 23-second period. The condition of slugs recovered from Watson's body made it impossible to identify the officer who fired the fatal shot, according to the prosecutor's office. |

WARNING GRAPHIC: Dashcam video of police involved fatal shooting, Atlantic City 3/27/2014 |
That was crazy. Sure were a lot of shots fired before they finally got him. Those people in the background on the sidewalk are really lucky.
Did the training cadre say, "Shoot them to the ground" or "Shoot them into the ground"?
He will not be a burden to the NJDOC....The news said he was smoking 'Wet' or PCP.

Back story? View Quote The 2014 video shows a lengthy police chase that went through four towns and culminated with the shooting of 27-year-old Antoquan Watson. A Pleasantville police car's dashboard camera captured much of the event. The chase began at a Pleasantville restaurant shortly after police responded to a report of a man who had a gun there. It ended when Watson's car collided with another car in Atlantic City. Watson then got out of his car with a handgun in his right hand. Police ordered him to drop the weapon. He began firing at the officers, who returned fire. |

Well, there goes the cure for cancer.
How did we not hear about this one till now? |
Wait till they serve him with the citation for failing to put his car into park.
He will not have to sign it. |
I only watched the last part where he got out and started shooting at the cops. I kinda wonder if it was suicide by cop. He didn't act like he really intended to survive this.
Damn, looks like he went from Little Egg Harbor, to AC, to North Field, then back to AC.
Literally the busiest intersection of AC. If it were summertime there would have been hundreds of people on the street.
Good shoot. https://www.google.com/maps/@39.3579991,-74.4381831,3a,60y,55.59h,90t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sxJ5m9-LvOLmmd7d1eIX8AQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 |

I thought the thought was shoot until the suspect is down!
They must have gone to Grady Judd School; shoot until all the ammunition is gone..... Traffic wasn't as bad as I expected, and did the Perp only make right turns? |
That was awesome. Nice how the person in the Jeep just sat there while the perp's car rolled into them.
When do the protests start? |
Wow. Good thing he wasn't really all that committed. He took several strides before being brought down.
They shot him so much he is going to be reincarnated as an abortion
Good shoot but why is the guy in that car in such a hurry to get to the front of the line? Maybe I am just dumb on police chase etiquette but it seemed like he was kind of over achieving.
Lol, right in front of the casino bus. Those are filled with old people bussed in to drop their SS checks in the slot machines.
I'd like to have stock in the company that supplies the ammo for the cops. How many rounds did they bounce off of the pavement?

I thought when he made that one left he was gonna take out the lady and the dog.
Almost looked like popcorn was popping off his body and the pavement. Where's my Coke?

Look at all the hits on his chest, and none of them had an effect until it looks like one hit him in the hip.
Then he was on the ground and still shooting. He wasn't aiming, and it looks like ND'd into his left armpit, but he was still lifting the gun and pulling the trigger until that one shot that made his arms flop out to the sides, and you can hear the cops shouting, "cease fire!" Then he took one more round to the titty. Jiggly sunovabitch. |
Gaaaaaaaaaddam!!!!
What's up with him tossing his trash out the window at about 10:30? Littering in Jersey is serious af. |
