Anyone know of any leads for an X300 adapter? I have a project that I'd like to start, but will need this part in order to begin. I know that this is old tech, but it's the cleanest way to add a rail to a non-railed, Colt 1911.

Don't add a rail to a Colt 1911, okay?

ETA: have you considered the Surefire rail?

I did once, and followed through: I was left less than satisfied.

The MR07 adapter requires it's own proprietary slide stop, and leaves scuffs on the recoil spring dustcover. It also places the X300 much lower below the bore's axis, and then won't fit any production holster with or without the light installed.

I ended up buying an additional (and railed) 1911, and was much happier.

In researching the Dawson rail, I never came across any posts mentioning any issues. The only issue, really, is the proprietary adapters for the SF light.

So you need the rail adapter and the part that goes on the surefire itself?

I have one I'm thinking of letting go as I want to go to a picatinny setup for my 1911.

the part that goes on the surefire is on my old x200.

Yes, I need the adapter that goes on the SF, but I need the adapter for the X300, not X200.

They were near impossible to find 6 years ago after Dawson stopped making them.  A few companies picked it up briefly (MARS Armament, Caspian, Grizzly), but they never really took off.  You can see the base page for the MARS SLR here: http://www.marsguns.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=38, but when you click on it, there is nothing.

I have one mounted on a SA 1911, and it isn't coming off.  I.E. you can't have it!

The only other option I see out there is the Novak 1911 pic rail: http://www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=cl&pw=55963&ctc=j5gcr48r9u00zk8a00y51&mi=10077&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.brownells.com%2Fshooting-accessories%2Fflashlights-accessories%2Fflashlight-mounts%2Fstainless-steel-tactical-light-rail-sku662000078-27001-52946.aspx?cm_mmc=cse-_-Itwine-_-shopzilla-_-662-000-078&utm_medium=cse&utm_source=connexity&utm_campaign=itwine&utm_content=662-000-078

You are either machining a Dawson Rail yourself, or moving in a different direction with your project......

EDIT:  just read the replies and figured out you want the adapter for the light, not the rail itself.  Probably even harder to find....

I have the Dawson rail, which I picked up for cheap. I just need the adapter. But, it's looking like finding an adapter is gonna be impossible.

I've used the SF MR-07 on my Colts (Delta Elite and S70) - work well enough. No scuffs on the frame, but yeah, the light sits pretty low.

I couldn't scratch that itch any other way - now I own a Kimber Warrior.

I have both: The  X200 and 300 have identical bodies and footprints on a picattiny rail.I can take the X300 off of my Desert Warrior, put the X200 in its place, and slide it on to my M4's railed handguard.

Okay, so there is only one adapter and it works for both the X200 and X300. Got it.

Can you post pics?

I missed your saying that you have a Dawson Rail in hand. That does require its own adapter, made by Dawson to replace the factory cleats found on the X200 series lights and on.

This is what you are looking for, if you can find one:

Attachment Attached File

Since you are willing to go the expense of smithing on the Dawson Rail, how about going with the Novak version instead? The Novak version is "Four precision machined slots accept any accessory designed to fit a MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail. Beveled and dehorned for snag-free operation; extends only ¼" below frame to allow easy fit in any holster designed for use with light/laser-equipped pistols. Available in blued carbon steel, matte gray stainless steel, or extremely lightweight aluminum with matte black anodized finish. Mounts using three super-strong, heat-hardened hex-head screws; drilling and tapping of frame required."

Gunny: I have seen the Novak rail, but prefer the look of the Dawson. Plus, from what I hear, a Dawson railed 1911 will still fit holsters for non-railed pistols.

+1 I've seen one up close and I can't see an add-on mount looking any nicer.
