Are you allowed to have a pistol with more than six rounds in NY? .44 wouldn't be the worst idea.

Wouldn't be my first choice, but a modern loaded 45 Colt with a HP will do very well, ballistics wise.

True, but if you ever need to shoot a motherfucker in the face, that's one way to do it with some panache.

i petition that we no longer refer to them as a "revolver" and henceforth say "revolvy".

That'll show those shotty assholes.

I've always thought a quality 16" .357 lever gun would make a pretty decent HD/Truck gun. Optimal? No.

Of course, you'll get killt in the streets even harder than with a 12 gauge I'm sure.

But a modern version of a 1911 is the pinnacle of defensive handguns.

I once had a former green beret tell me that he had a flintlock rifle that was good out to 250 yards and could "easily own whatever the other guy is carrying" with one round. Does that count?

And I have a friend in Oakland California that kept a loaded cap and ball revolver under the seat of his pickup.

Should the wheel gun be chambered in .45ACP as well?

I used to be pretty fast on a shot timer with my Sig and a 1911 but I've seen some really fast shooters with SAAs.  Just because most of them are shooting weak, gaming loads doesn't mean they couldn't shoot regular loads quickly.  There are still a ton of people who carry five shot snubbies and pocket guns like .25, .32 and .380s as well.   None of them would be my first choice but they have their place.  I would not feel too bad with a decent SAA in most non-urban areas

Ayup, they are awesome and I love mine, but the G17 or G19 get the nod for defense.

Neverless, the ole 454 five gun, gets the nod when hunting or scouting in the forest.

I have one setting in the loading stand with in hands reach right now.    I took my 45 lc Schoefield over to a friends house for 4 of July and shot a 100 + rounds out of it.  Two friends and now looking at the Schoefield.
I like the weight and feel of the Schoefield.  If I ever start shooting SASS I will use Schoefields.

Carrying a Single Action Army as a concealed weapon?    That's about the dumbest thing I've heard today.

I carry an Atlatl with some throwing stars in reserve and I have yet to walk into a fight where I felt out gunned.
