I didn't get a choice. They have me subletting a coworker's apartment. He has to move last second to birmingham and they want me to take over his role with one of our clients. View Quote Do you like the nightlife? Do you love to boogy? Bars/restaurants galore. Live music. Hipster shit downtown on the weekends. It's hot as hell, but you're only a couple hours drive from watching a good football game in Clemson.

I don't have any recent info for you. I lived in Lexington from 2004-2010. I found and joined the Mid Carolina Rifle Club and enjoyed the various ranges. This is where i got bit by the BRD and it has been a money drain since. It was a bit of a process to get in, but then had no hassles. I do miss the mustard BBQ quite a bit.
Good luck. Relocating to Western KY from Iowa myself this weekend. |

Well that sucks. I don't have a lot of love for loud areas. View Quote Sales tax = 8%, Prepared meals tax = 10% Go to neighboring Lexington county for 7% tax and quieter surroundings. |

Depends where is Columbia. Avoid broad river area, 2 notch road area, farrow and Montegue rd areas, bluff rd shop rd and gardners ferry rd area. Chapin, and Sandhills and nice, parts of Lexington and Irmo as well. Have your fun here in Charleston!!! |

Have fun! |

Prepare to live in the hottest place on Earth. I have very little functional knowledge of Columbia except it is very hot compared to the rest of the state. View Quote I lived there for 3 years while I went to USC. That was in the 80's. Probably changed somewhat. Didn't really care for it after the first year although I did enjoy my time at USC. I would bet that's gone to hell as well. ETA: I moved there in August from Beaufort SC. It was over 102 every day that month and didn't get under 85 at night. It was like refreshment in Columbia. Lol. It can be darn hot, at least it cools off at night. |

California native but I retired from the army here about 23 years ago. I raised my family here just outside of Columbia in the country.
There are two Palmetto State Armory locations in Columbia and they will drain your wallet. I've been a member of the Midcarolina Rifle Club for about 20 years and shoot out there a lot. I like that there are no range officers and everybody is expected to follow the rules and police themselves. Works out pretty good because the range runs pretty smooth. It's kind of hard to join now but they do have a waiting list. FN has a pro shop right outside their manufacturing facility in Northeast Columbia near the Village at Sandhills. They always have good deals on handguns. Their ARs seem to be made of gold because they want a lot for them. Lots of gunstores in Columbia as well as pawnshops. It's no hotter here than it was at Fort Hood or Fort Sill. It does get humid in the summer time, though. I like how steam rolls off the pavement after a good summer rain. I like it here. |

The best thing about Columbia is that it's only a 2 hour drive to anywhere else.

columbia sucks dick, sorry man
not many desirable areas in the carolinas |

Gamecocks or Tigers.. figure it out before you talk to anybody.
2 hours to Charleston and a pretty straight shot, so you can always hit the beach on the weekend. City of Charleston limits a knife to 3", but the State has no regulation. Might want to check the Columbia code book and make sure there are no limits if you carry a blade. |

welcome to the state, CAE is not far from me, the beach is close day trip for some salt water fishing, hope you find your way around and you enjoy your stay.

It's HOT; don't say you weren't warned. After it rains down, it rains up.
The only thing that separates Columbia from Hell in the summertime is a screen door. And.....well, read for yourself. Carry, carry every day. My only good reason for visiting Columbia ended a dozen years ago, didn't like it then; don't like it now. https://www.neighborhoodscout.com/sc/columbia/crime http://www.areavibes.com/columbia-sc/crime/ http://www.movoto.com/guide/columbia-sc/columbia-sc-crime-rate-what-homebuyers-need-to-know/ http://www.rcsd.net/raidsonline.html |

Columbia shares a characteristic with the entire state of South Carolina. That would be that it sucks.
Other than the coast, SC is useless. |

I had freinds there. They turned full blown libtard, and the wife turned into a man.

It will be hot a fuck this summer.
Oh and PSA. There are ranges to shoot at all over so bring your guns if you can. |

Columbia is a hot shit hole. In fact I don't have any need for the part of SC in between Columbia and the coast. The Upstate needs to secede. OP, head north and visit Greenville.

My wife's aunt and uncle retired down there. They liked it at first but the heat finally drove them back to New England. You can dress for the cold up here, but you can only undress so far for the heat before they arrest you.
Skip South Carolina and go directly to South Korea. Use your extra salary for nice trips to places with temperate (45° -> 75°) weather. |

Live in Fairfield county, and travel to the city. You'll thank me later.
The Blythewood area is nice, and only a few minutes out. |

Deer Season runs from the middle of August to 1st of Jan. If you like to hunt. A lot of public land (WMA)
just watch out for the ticks and snakes. Been a member at Mid Carolina Rifle Club about 25 years. Great Club, just obey the rules. |

We have a Aug 15th to Jan 1st deer season here as well so that's always a plus if you hunt any.

You can't buy alcohol on Sunday.. and I mean midnight..
