Anyone else notice the screw screwed into the bottom of the bottle? I wouldn't have picked that fucker up either.
View Quote
I looked but I don't see the screw but I didn't notice the bottom isn't round like I originally though.    The right side is bulged out and you can see the balls/beads in the bulged part.   It also looks like the bottom is sitting on a piece of black plastic.

All I know is that if I were the bomb squad and I cleared the package as harmless, I would start walking back towards the uniformed officers with it casually and would suddenly yell "holy cow it's ticking" and toss it at one of the street officers.

That would be epic!

Do other caches look like that?  Doesn't exactly have a friendly appearance.
View Quote
Yes, its not uncommon for caches to be made from things like Pringle's or tennis ball cans wrapped in tape.

At first I thought it was a straight slotted pan head screw, but after saving it to my computer and blowing it up, I think it might be a white spot in the plastic, maybe from the manufacturing process.

ETA: I just looked at a bottle, that's what it is, it's not a screw.

Not all geocaches are visible via the website for unpaid members.  Some pop up for paid members only.  If you would like to PM me the address, I would gladly check with my account.

ETA: no premiums nearby, but a new cache pretty close to the cemetery that the OP already mentioned.  This one may have a light built into it based on the comments.

ETOA:  It's also possible that someone found it not knowing what it was and moved it.  Still a good call to the man, OP.

My prayers to the family and the people that have to feed them. We are responsible for the funeral dinners for our church members.

FFS, you can see the fake party beads. How many thousands did this cost the tax payers? Ever drive past a trash can or dead cat? Might want to drop a line just incase you ever do.

Evidently, geocaching in cemeteries is somewhat common.

Seems disrespectful to me.

Ask if you can keep the mardi gras beads when they open it!

I responded to a suspicious object call once. I kicked it as far as I could and when it quit rolling I opened it up and found some misc crap. Sarge showed up and chewed my ass

"Benign container."

Pretty much all the sheriff gave to the funeral home.

Closer circuit to all geocachers...

Please mark your stashes very clearly.

It wasn't stated that this one was, however, the lesson still remains.

Local police needed a bomb threat drill anyway.  Now, they're better prepared, just in case.

Well, the owner of the geocsche that was in the area has confirmed it wasn't his cache that we found. So, there's that I guess.

So no one knows what was actually in it? Or why there were ball bearings at the bottom?

Glad it wasn't a bomb.

You're right to be cautious as close to the site as it was though.
