Here right now at the Tampa store on West Hillsborough. My boy drove & is looking at the fishing section and I am checking out all things firearms. Two years ago got a decent deal on a K31 here. No such thing today. Signs on the street advertise 40% off. I however, have not seen such a gobblegook of marked up shit in years.
.223 for $8-12. PMags $14.99. No wonder they are going on out of business. May FUCK be upon them. Fuck this place. |

went through the store in Plattzburgh Ny last week there was nothing remotely on special unless you consider 10% off on safes to be a deal.
When a local outdoor store here went under last year the liquidators pretty much tried to sell the store out at near retail price. It took them forever to get rid of everything. |

Same here, goin out of business sale but still higher prices then anywhere else! Piss on this company!

Gander Mountain has already gone tits up and it's inventory has been sold to liquidators at auction.
It's the liquidators who are selling the merchandise and setting the prices. |

In Last Weeks Gander Mountain Thread I mentioned that firearms were marked as 5% off.....

Went a couple weeks ago to help a friend who is getting into guns find a Mossberg 500. They had it priced at $400 and 5.56 was $.60 a round. Granted it was Federal XM193 but still. We went down the road to Academy and he scored the same gun with a pistol grip included for $360 before tax. I got 200 rds of Winchester M855 for < $.50 per. Gander Mountain was a joke.

Actually got a good deal there yesterday. 2 packages of Nap broadheads for $26 total.

I saw some "discounted" pistols that normally retail for $599 marked up to $999 at Gander today.

I bought a 2" Reece receiver ball mount with a 2" drop for my truck for less than $10. That's the only deal I found at my local store.

Signs on the street advertise 40% off. View Quote Maybe they'll do like the local K Mart did prior to closing. They started advertising "30-40% off everything!", then promptly went in and marked everything up 30-40% (if not more). |

A buddy of mine went in there to buy his first ar, and the guy behind the counter told him to get one from PSA! LOL

I went into one in Bowling Green, KY Friday. I was driving past on my way back from Nashville and thought I would stop in and see the prices. Like you saw the 40% off sign and thought I might be able to find some good deals. The parking lot was packed! As I parked I figured most of the good stuff would be gone and picked over with empty shelves.
I didn't really need anything, but have been casually looking for a 22 air gun and thought I might be able to find one. I had to chuckle when I saw the 10% off sign above the section and the gun I wanted was priced at $239. This gun sells on Walmart for $171. I looked around a little more was unimpressed. As I paid more attention, I noticed that no one was buying anything. No one was in any checkout lane and I didn't pay attention that when I walked in, no one was carrying out a purchase. So, like before the going out of business sale, no one is buying anything at Gander due to the prices. They just got a heck of a lot more foot traffic. Busier than I've ever seen, but the checkout people were just as bored as before. Waste of time. |

They quoted me $820 for a 617 w/ 6" barrel. They can go piss off.
|
|
[#17]
I walked through the one by me, one last time. I swear I spent all of 7 minutes in there, just shaking my head and laughing at the "sale" prices.
I wanted to to tell the manager "no wonder y'all can't make any money, y'all can't even have a going out of business sale correctly!" But then I figured it wouldn't be nice to mess with someone that's about to lose their job. |
|
[#18]
Amarillo was the same.
Big "Going out of business sale" banner. Prices doubled, then 10% off that. Ridiculous |
|
[#20]
Some clothing was 40% off. Other than that nothing at all worth buying.
|
|
[#21]
i got a lot of 338LM for a decent price from the gander in pensacola.
other than that everything is way overpriced and fuck them. |

What an odd thread. I went in ours because I knew they were going out of business weeks ago but never got the opportunity to stop in for any deals. The HH Greg that went out of business next door only took about 2 weeks to clear out completely at 50%+ off so I figured Gander might already be empty and closed.
Nope, I can still buy a $499 Remington 870 express and $599 Glocks, after the 10% discount of course. Nothing in the store had really moved. If they had no signs up telling me they were going out of business I wouldn't have known. The previous poster summed it up nicely, they can't even hold a going out of business sale correctly. |
|
[#23]
Have one down the street from me, was in there a couple weeks ago and the prices were not that impressive, didn't see many people buying.
|
|
[#24]
A small note on the door here says "other merchandise equal to gander Mtn quality has been brought in" look on the tags for this "@#&".
An audit/inventory company was in the other day also. Pricing still sucks also. I did manage to bring home some ToadSkinz bibs though. These are my goto for wet weather riding on the road. |

It's sad. Back in the 70s and early 80s their catalogs had some great stuff and good prices. The decision to build the giant superstores killed them. you have to pay for that somehow.

They had trouble staying in business.
I suspect they will have trouble going out of business. |

Yeah they are full of shit... mine says 50% off but nothing is on sale in there that is worth buying... anything Magpul in there can be bought for 30% cheaper online. Their ammo is ridiculously over priced still. Fuck them.
|
|
[#31]
From last weekend...pic won't load from my phone but they had G17 mags for $49.99 minus whatever shitty discount they had that day.
|
|
[#32]
I saw the going out of business sign and just laughed and stomped on the gas pedal.
|
|
[#33]
The store by me has 2 used Glock 30's in stock marked down to $650 . New you can buy one for less . They still have a store full of merchandise and people without selling anything. As stated above all they did was generate foot traffic .
|
|
[#34]
I stopped into the local one to see just how dicked up their pricing still was and shook my head walking around the still full store. Did see a few people being fleeced at the gun counter though. The tags on the "marked down" merchandise even had a statement of no further discounts so I'm assuming they wouldn't even try to price match a real sale price.

Iv'e noticed that the liquidation company is actually bringing in NEW, not previously offered products to sell in the store.
I am talking stupid shit China products that were never sold by Gander before and have nothing to do with Gander. It appears they are just wanting to move SHIT to a stupid customer base and using the Gander store to get rid of crap they have. |

Picked up two Walther P99/PPQ M1 mags for $20/ea, which isn't too bad at all. Marked at $39.95, and %50 off. They had a pile more, too.

I got hornaday 45-70 325 grain flex tip lever ammo fo 26.24 per box. Ask my nephew to check the gander in spring TX and it was. 34.99 no discount?? Guess it's back to SG ammo at 28 per box. My kid did get some under armor hoodies for 21.00 . My wife looked at me and said take me to Acadamey this sale is BS.

my local gander mountain is roughly 3/4 empty already. the dipshits around here are loving 10-25% off full MSRP.
|
|
[#41]
Wait until the leases start coming up for renewal. Liquidators are used to move merchandise fast. Somebody in charge is doing it wrong.
