Why the hate for Applebee's..our local one is good. It is always packed. View Quote Their menu is unoriginal and overtly bland. The food is overpriced for the quality and service. And beyond that, their portion sizes are tiny. Applebees is the only restaurant I can remember in my entire life sitting down, eating my entire meal (bland, dry rack of ribs made from very low quality meat), and still being hungry when I was done. |

Arby's I don't know a single person that has ever gone to an Arby's in recent history. Nobody has ever said to me "let's go to Arby's" or "oh there's an Arby's stop there." It just does not happen. Yet there they are. I'm not a picky eater by any stretch of the imagination. I can probably count on one hand the foods that I will not eat (assuming properly prepared), and Arby's curly fries are on that list. That being said, there aren't a lot of places to eat lunch in my town, and I will go there and get a gyro, one of their cold sandwiches, or even reuben once in a while. No fucking fries please. |

Applebee's is terrible. I hadn't gone to one in years because they were so terrible, then a friend wanted to go because he remembered they used to be good. It was garbage. Overcooked, cold steak, waitresses more interested in playing with their phones than doing any serving, crappy food overall. I'll never go back if I have a choice. Wendy's needs to die a quick death. Golden Corral too (although I suppose it keeps the riff raff put of the good places). Places like Applebee's, TGIFriday's, Chili's, Red Robin, Boston Market, BWW and those type don't even remotely register on my radar when I'm looking for food. I'd 100X rather find a mom & pop hole in the wall or a Burger King. |

Applebees
My wife was a director for an insurance company that employed more than 30,000 people The company used to give out gift certificates as encentives to employees foir outstanding work. My wife receved complaints about their treatment a6t Applebees when they presented the gift certificates before the meal as they were instructed to do. So She spoke to HR and got a $25 gift certificate and we went to Applebees. My wife had a top o9f the line Olympus Pearlcorder switched on (For those of you who dont know back in the early 80s the Pearlcorder was the cats ass. Small and 3excelent recording quality for the time.) We go in and immediately there is a dispute loud enough for the Pearlcorder to pick up. "I'm not serving them they have a fuckin kid" - our 3 year old was with us. When one finally comes my wife shows the gift certificate. This brings on another dispute about gift certificates and no one wants to serve us All this was picked up by the Pearlcorder That ended the Applebees gift certificate program.. |

Acquisition by Mrs. Paul's Seafood
On November 21, 1979, Orange Co. sold Arthur Treacher's to Mrs. Paul's Seafood. However, under the terms of its original sale-leaseback agreements, Orange Co. remained liable for millions of dollars of payments to investors.[13] Mrs. Paul's promptly replaced the Icelandic cod with less expensive pollock that was oilier and of inferior quality.[14] The move exacerbated tensions with franchisees - some of whom had already withheld a total of $5 million in royalties for what they perceived to be a steadily declining level of service. Litigation arising from the conflict eventually reached the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.[15] |

Applebee's for sure.
Years ago they opened a new one by me. A buddy of mine's wife got a job there waiting tables and she invited us to come in prior to their grand opening. Basically we (employees friends and family) got free food so they could test run the place prior to opening. I had never eaten at one before but I went in anticipating generic casual restaurant fare. The food was utterly awful. I mean so bad that even for free I wanted my damn money back. Never ate there again. Biggest surprise: Sizzler. After an experience decades ago getting sick as a dog after eating there as well as the place being hood as fuck, I swore it off. They shut the one by me down and I thought that was the end of it. Nope, they gutted the place and rebuilt it. My girlfriend talked me into taking her there for a date night last month. I think it was more so she could say "we goin sizzler" rather then excitement about actually eating there. Place was clean, no hoodrats, food was good, service was great. And hey, all you can eat shrimp. We have been back another time since then. |
