Any of you guys tried the long gun setup  (pressure pad etc) for the 800lm tlr1-hl?

Is it easier to just use the "regular" tailcap without the pressure pad?

Inverted on the top rail, your right hand presses down the switch for momentary. I don't see the need for the long gun kit unless your rail is really crowded and you need to stick it on the side.

Post a pic please.

I have my TLR-HL with the toggle switch on the back and mounted it on the left side of the rail.
I use my thumb to activate it.

I have a TLR1-HL and wouldn't hesitate using it on a long gun. It's EXTREMELY bright for such a compact unit.

I may hang it on my 10/22 for 'coon and possum trespassers.

I use one at 12 o'clock without a pressure pad. I really like it.

Yeah I'm wondering if the pressure pad kit is nice, or just unnecessary.

Its the most common way to mount it. Same way everyone mounts x300s in front of the front sight. Google it there are plenty of pics out there.

I always felt it was too brittle for a long gun and too bright for a pistol.

If I had to use one on a rifle, I'd put it up front at the 12 o'clock

I have the Streamlight Game Spotter on an 18" barreled scoped AR. The thumb switch is way ahead of the pressure pad IMO.

After many years of using a mini scout with tail cap switch I moved over to TLR1HL with pressure switch.

Ok I just bought the long gun kit to see.  Was getting a TLR1-HL 800 anyway and it was like an extra 30 bucks, vs about 70 if buying the long gun rig separately....

I've been using the VTAC offset mounts and making my own ghetto scout style lights for a long time so figured I'd try this out...  I didn't want the length of the 600 scout.  I also ordered a RM1 to compare.  FO time.

I have a TLR-1HL with pressure pad on my Mk18.  The light is mounted on the ejection port side and the pad is on the top rail and I use my thumb to activate it.  For me that is the most natural and comfortable way to hold the gun.

Bright as hell.

How do I change the end cap? Slide out the pin?
