If there's a better holster than this for carrying a full size auto I haven't seen it.

This holster is nice and only $19.00

What a waste of $19. I wouldn't use one of those if it was free.

And it's always with a Springfield grip zone.

It will also hold a can of beer and some beef jerky when you realize it is pure useless for a gun

It'll do, pig, it'll do.

I would rather have kydex though, for the thinness.

If you are strictly talking OC, and you don't give a shit about being a holster fashion Nazi, then those things will get the job done.

So will Uncle Mike's for that matter (which is maybe what that is in the OP, not sure).

Looks like an alright nightstand holster. It looks quick and easy enough to clip on whatever you are wearing when you grab your gun in the middle of the night so you can holster your gun if you need to and you have a reload with you.

I never carry it though.

I too like you OP bought an Uncle Mikes holster when I was young and dumb. It was for my Ruger Sp101. It was the only holster I have ever owned that a gun fell out of.Total garbage. Just throw it away or return it.

I would like to see someone reload with that set up.

How much does it flop around with every step you take?

Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take

$1,000 for a gun, and $19 to carry and protect it. Your HK and 1911s now have AIDS.

You got to try one .
I grab  my  wilderness tactical belt and this holster clips right on easy peasy and it's great for walking in the woods with the dogs.

It works alright for what it is, and works well on molle with a well placed boot band.  I tried using it in a competition once which really showed me its flaws.  The retention clip wears out quickly and will fail at times causing you to draw a holstered weapon.  I keep that holster in my truck for when I need to OC when I don't have my OC pistol, usually when making large cash deposits or when going into the back 40 of a few properties I maintain/monitor.

I have been very pleased with my Fobus GL-3 for my Glock 20.  It is affordable and works as advertised.  I think I paid 20 or 25 for that, but I don't recall.

My brother has that holster, and likes it well enough.

My son borrowed it for a short time, and it took him about five minutes to switch back to his over prices Safariland 7378 7TS ALS.

Myself, I use a Safariland Remedy, but have been thinking about switching to a paddle setup.

I've got a Safariland/Bianchi Remedy as well and it's a nice holster with very good retention and conceals acceptably well under a baggy tee shirt.

Made in Mexico though.

So you decided that saving the money equivalent to a box of ammo is worth it when it comes to carrying  a gun.

Bold strategy, Cotton.

Get a fucking safariland 6378/7378.  Fobus is 1 step up and 100 steps down from safariland. You can get the safariland for like 35 bux.

I lost a pistol out of one of those cheap holsters once.  My first and only pistol at the time.

I was 13yo.  What's your excuse

If you're going to open carry with a Walmart holster shouldn't your gun be a Taurus Judge loaded with #8 birdshot?

Do you carry with the slide locked back? You know so you can chamber a round of Winchester white box / Tulammo when you draw?

I've always wondered how mag changes happen when the mags are on the same side as the gun. How do you do it?

Here we have the typical response that derides his choice without offering options that may be better and why.

Why not use this thread as an opportunity to list the characteristics of a good holster.  Of course some may be higher requirements than others and some may be subjective.

For my use, I am looking for an OWB holster for a Shield 9 MM.  Yes I can open carry in Colorado as well as conceal carry.

So how much looking have you done for full sized holsters?  There's probably a list a page long that could be made of better holsters for carrying a full sized pistol.

Is Uncle Mike's holster functional?  Sure.  Best available?  Hardly.
