I've had a handful of performance cars over the years, but while some were a bit more noticeable, they were all common and never really drew any attention. Earlier this year I picked up a 2016 Focus RS. It's a somewhat rare car, but I figured to most people it would be just another Focus hatchback. I've been pretty busy on weekends, so I ended up driving it mostly at night. It never really got any attention except for one time.
In the last few weeks I have started driving it more during the day. Holy shit.. damn near everywhere I go someone asks about it. Random people parking near it and taking pics of it. People pulling up to me as I walk towards a store to ask about it. Last weekend I heard some guy yelling to his friends across a parking lot (as in "hey guys! A Focus RS!") as I drove past the parking lot. It's been a pretty surprising experience. I actually figured I'd get more negative reactions with this car.. like "for the money I would have bought xxxxx instead" or whatever. Any of you guys have a car/truck that gets attention like this? I'm curious what other vehicles draw people in like this. Classics probably do? I really would have expected my old Corvette would have gotten more attention since it was all blacked out (this was when black wheels and all were much less common)... but no one seemed to care about that car Here is a pic I snapped at Target today, right after some random guy asked about it: Attached File |

I really like the ST editions so if I saw an RS in a parking lot I would have to go over and check it out.

I bought a 89'Honda Accord DX hatchback in like ~1998 and it had this racing steering wheel in it, i think it was a Grant.
I got a lot of compliments. A lot. Especially at the drive through. |

I used to have a 2010 jeep grand cherokee srt8 that drew compliments from people who actually knew what it was. I am sure 95% of the people who saw it thought it was just a regular jeep that had big wheels. My commuting vehicle is a lexus ct200h f sport. People always check it out because it is a pretty rare car in many parts of the country but it is just a slow hybrid.

Not on my car or truck so much but on my bike I do. Nice ride OP

I've had a few, the truck in my avatar, an 03 white suburban with the 8.1, and my 11 black Denali pickup with the 6.2........all 3 garnered lots of looks and comments..

Almost everything I dive. I always get the windows tinted, and sometimes wheels. But I think the key is keeping them clean, this causes people to notice. Just happen the other day. I am Driving a ILX it's a cheap car nothing great about it.

I bought an STi not too long after they hit the showrooms in 2003. It was quite the attention getter for a few months.

I drive a 2003 Marauder most days. I've had quite a few people compliment it, or stop to talk. One guy stopped in the barber shop when I was getting my hair cut just to ask about it (He had one too).
I seem to be drawn to cars that nobody else wants (Marauder, '97 Lincoln Mark VIII, supercharged '90 Cougar, etc), so they tend to attract car people. |
|
Yup, sure do. When I drive my V8 all wheel drive, six speed, Audi S4 I don't get a single word.
But when I drive my old stock turd of a 1998 Acura Integra(fancy civic) I get all the boy racers drooling and saying "nice teggie!". So, yes, I know the boys who gawk at your car. |

My brother's car he just bought, we flew down to North Carolina to get it and drive home.
1987 Buick Grand National. Couldn't do anything without having a crowd wanting to look under the hood. It was stolen the day after we got back to Michigan. |

Yes, in of all things a 1979 VW Bus. It seems there are lots of fond memories with previous owners.

2010 Mercedes E550 sedan. Black metallic, really looked nice like a rapper or lawyer car, had the big 5.5 liter all-aluminum V8 so it would MOVE. Got compliments all the time, especially from the cougars.
Attached File It also had AWD and could raise up on its airbag suspension 2 inches, so I took it camping with my son's Scout troop. We would hit dirt trails deep into the scout camps with a pickup truck, five SUVs, and a Benz sedan The boys called it "War Machine." Never got stuck! Fucking tree fell on it in my driveway one Sunday night and totalled it. Fuck I was pissed!!! |

Its funny, of all the cars I drive around, the one that gets the most attention is the beater.
1990 Honda CRX that's caged and lifted as a rallycross car. |
|
I got compliments on my corvettes all the time. I couldn't pull into a parking lot with my 73 without someone walking over.

My Volvo has headlight wipers. For some reason, kids think it's the coolest thing in the world.
|
|
My buddy has a GT-R and gets random people complimenting him about his car all the time. Once he came out of twin peaks (similar to hooters) and there was a guy taking a picture of a waitress sitting in the middle his hood
He wasn't too happy about it. |
|
for some reason everyone loves the pearl white sportster custom. i've had a few girls ask to take pictures on it while their bro bfs stand and watch.

As the driver of the car in my avatar yes and I am jealous of your RS. We have sold two and I didn't get to drive either of them. Our parts rep has an RS and he took me for a ride it. Off the line it is quicker than mine for sure. 40-100 roll on it would be close. Mine is tuned, intake, exhaust and some other stuff so I should be about 40-50hp over stock.

All the time. And Just today. Stopped at subway to grab a sammich for lunch in the squatchdozer. Some guy who looked homeless chilling on a nearby parking lot bumper thingy was like "awee man. Sweet truck. Its got the diesel. Niceee. Sounds sick" I'm like "it's not all that" and bladed into the subway at 45 degrees. As i was leaving turns out the guy was just waiting on a ride after work at his construction job.

I probably get more compliments in the Miata than the Camaro.

Not a car but when you ride a bike, any bike, it is like a battle to get away sometimes.

My bone stock 2005 Ram 3500 4x4. I keep it clean, but for some reason people just love that truck. One time I valeted at Treasure Island, and when I came out it was parked right up front next to the Maseratis and ferraris. When the Valet pulled it around, people were gawking at my retractable running boards.
