Does the radar just not touching the ground or is just not on the ground in that shot.

The farther you get from the radar site, the higher the base of the image. Curvature of da earf and all. KDFW is at the airport in Burleson. 73 miles from Burleson to Canton.

The base of what the radar can see at Canton is 7689 feet above ground level. That's why the NWS relies so heavily on spotters...for the 'ground truth' that the radar can't see.

The 'nader that's heading for Canton now...appears to be huge. ~5 miles SW of Canton.

The white square is the center of circulation:

From Facebook

Texas Storm Chasers: Two tornadoes. One went just west/southwest of town. The bigger of the two (second one) went just east of town. We don't know any more than that. We're trying to get ahold of family/friends there too.

Been watching it on the news. It's moving my direction.
They just reported several people hurt and lots of damage, but wasn't clear if the injuries were in canton or not.

Canton? Can't be more than $20 in property damage.

Someone mentioned the Arfcom store - is that a permanent thing, or is that in reference to a First Monday booth? I still need to get out there...

Yeah, lots of vendors sleeping onsite in their vehicles or campers...a good chunk of the public would be gone by the time they started hitting...but they might be on the roads...
