Whenever the vehicle tells me to. Usually around every 8k-9k miles.

3 times a year whether I need it or not. I drive about 9000 mile a year so it works out pretty well.
Synthetic blend Motorcraft 5w-30 and a Wix filter. |
Whenever the on-board computer tell me to do so. Usually around 7k miles.
Every 5000 miles. Toyota synthetic 0W-20 oil and Toyota filters.
Personal vehicle is every 6000 miles. Company work van is about every 7500 miles.

Wife's gets it once a year, primary follows the Lexus recommended schedule to a T.
ETA: noticed one of the fleet trucks had gone 15k in a report whoops got to talk to fleet mechanic on that one. |
Truck, every 7500 miles.
Both street bikes, every 3000 miles. Dirt bike, every few weeks, usually after 2 or 3 rides. Edit: pour Rotella on all the things |
Every 3k miles on my truck, wives car and the farm truck
Every year on the boat Every 3 rides on the dirt bike |

I have about 258000 miles on my daily driver 2008 Ram 1500 and it gets fresh oil and filter every 5000 miles.
The on board computer prompts me to change the oil but it seems to want to go about 8-10 thousand miles between changes and I don't think that is good for my vehicle. |
I clean my barrel every 300-400 rounds.
Oh....wait.....nevermind |
sysnthetic.
7500 in my truck and my wife's car. Son's Tahoe tells us when. |
1) after 5,000 miles or
2) after 6 months or 3) when the oil life indicator is at 20% .... whichever of these milestones is reached first. |
Every 5K-7K with Mobil 1.
My oil life indicator is assuming that I use "dino oil" so I ignore it. |
I change my oil on my Ford Explorer Sport Ecoboost twin turbo at the local reliable oil change place. I follow the computer that calculates when its due. They
use a semi synthetic oil. My guess is 10k miles or so when the signal comes on. 72k miles and has never burned a drop and I check. The oil chance guy today said Chevy trucks burn copious amounts of oil between changes. My wife's BMW TT 4 cyl has 15k mile oil change intervals. |
Just did the Pimpala on Sunday, every 7500 miles, Mobile 1 Synthetic.
I just changed the oil in the Miata, last time was last January. Bit long I know. I'm going to have to change the Camaro oil soon...10qts of oil.

About 2K. But that's 6 months of driving. Last change the service guy said it had been a year since my last visit. Oops!
I don't drive much. I have a 2002 Ranger with a bit more than 56K miles. |

Every three thousand miles religiously, with Castrol 5W-30 and a Toyota oem filter. We do that mileage in two months, that poor 4runner is always on the go.

My vehicle has a "maintenance minder". I DO NOT KNOW HOW IT WORKS. The honda manual says
Based on engine and transmission operating conditions, and accumulated engine revolutions, your Honda's onboard computer (ECM/PCM) calculates the remaining engine oil and the transmission fluid life. The system also displays the remaining engine oil life along with the code(s) for other scheduled maintenance items needing service. but I can't find anything online that discusses actual parameters like oil nephology, clarity, or conductivity, weighted inputs, RMS and Peak values etc. It's magic. So i do what it says. |
Every 10,000 miles - as per the manual.
But, based on the experience of owning a few vehicles over the past 30 years of driving, it's probably excessively frequent. Cars disintegrate around the engine. Rust, air conditioning / heating, ignition, electrical, cooling systems go long before the engine ever seizes up. No harm in frequent oil changes but probably unnecessary given the over-all life of the car. Although, being able to actually get the beater on to the lot under its own power for a trade-in is better than towing it. |
Every 2000 miles MAX. Usually at 1500 miles. Fully synthetic oil and additives. 10 friggin quarts of it too.

Change it as often as your vehicles manual suggests. Will be different time frames/miles with different vehicles.

Vehicle's brain tells me when. Usually @ 7K or 8K. It is programmed with conventional oil in use.
But I use synthetic and a good Wix filter every change. No worries for me. Engines of today are far better built than they were a few decades ago and the oil technology has also advanced greatly. You could easily go to a quick change place every 5k and never have a problem with a modern engine. |
