Over forty, no problem for me. I tend to favor wine over beer on most occasions anyway.

I have the same problem with beer, wine, or any alcohol other than Whiskey/Bourbon.
Pretty sure it has to do with the sulfites in the beer/wine. Because Whiskey/Bourbon is aged in charred white oak barrels, and the aging process (heat/cold) forces the liquid in and out of the charring, thus trapping the nasty shite. |

Late 30s and I really can't drink hardly anything without feeling like total shit the next morning and getting a crappy nights sleep. Sucks cause I really do enjoy a few good beers or some wine with dinner but it is just incredible how much better I feel when I refrain.

I can have a couple of beers and it wont bother me, but if I am out on a bender, I will feel gassy and bloated all the next day. This pretty much started last year, I'm 54. I now have quite the bourbon collection and no problems.

<--------------Mid 40s.
I switched to Scotch a few years back. I do still enjoy an occasional Guinness. Thing about Scotch or any whisky is that you have to have self control. If you don't, you're better off with beer. |

47 yo. If I drink more than two after 6 PM, I am guaranteed a sinus headache when I go to bed. It's like a hangover without ever getting drunk. That won't happen if I drink 3-4 in the middle of the day. Weird.

A martini before dinner.
Then a glass of white, or perhaps some champagne with salad or appetizers. Then a bottle of red with dinner. Afterwards, a glass of bourbon or scotch. |

Pretty much. Any more than 3 or 4 beers, I feel like I drank a keg. Whisky & vodka are my go to drinks now.

Booze never started bothering me until I hit 60. Seems I began to get hang-overs and they have continued to gain in intensity. I've pretty much stopped drinking except on special occasions.

50 and beer is still fine with me.
I've long since stopped drinking to the point of having a hangover though. |

So, I'm a few years past forty and beer just doesn't agree with me any more, anyone else have this happen? I'm not talking about shit beer or some weird craft beer either, just beer in general. I have a few beers and I feel like complete shit the next day, tired, lazy, slow... But, I can get totally wrecked on whiskey and feel perfectly normal the next day. Sucks, I like good beer. Nothing medically wrong with me either. View Quote Yup. Although it's true for all alcohol. I've never consumed a lot of alcohol as work and family and hobbies just never allowed for it, but I feel crappy the next day. Except for my chili, I haven't had a drink in forever. |

I started the thread about this not too long ago. I will be 39 this year, and some beers give me an almost instant headache. I'm not sure what it is. Lighter beers don't tend to make me feel so bad. I'll stick with Lagers and Pilsners and some IPAs.

46 here. about two years ago it hit me as well. Which sucked because I was REALLY into homebrewing. Now, I maybe have three pints a year. Whiskey or any other hard stuff is no problem

I quit smoking at 32 & have never enjoyed drinking since I may on occasion have a beer after 7pm but for the most part I don't drink anymore.

I've been arguing with beer for years. "Hey, let's post this on facebook!"
No beer, you are wrong. Very wrong. |

Im two months away from 47 and still drink 3-6 IPAs a night with no effects in the morning. It may be my quick metabolism but Im dwindling my intake down. The costs after doing the math

Beer fucks with my work outs, so Vodka, Rum and Single Malt Scotch it is. |

Same here bro, only 32 and it started at about 27 for me. Guess I hit my beer limit.
I think really, not to sounds a hippidy dipity, it has something to do with sugars, yeast & gluten..., yeah, yeah I fuckin' said gluten So now I drink whisky |

[#39]
Yes.
This happened to me starting at around 36-37 yrs old. I'm 43 now and still can't drink more than 1.5 beers without a SEVERE hangover. ETA: sometimes the massive hangover type headache starts while I am still drinking the beers. Like an instant hangover. |
|
[#40]
Beer fills me up since I started a (relatively) low carb diet, and it's frankly just not as satisfying now. When I'm working in the yard I'll have one because that's what civilized gentlemen do, but the rest of the time I'm happy with wine and bourbon.

get checked for celiac disease. Keep in mind I'm in my 30s and I had the problem in my 20s, but it was like a complete 180 in how I could tolerate beer in about a 1-2 year span. Have you ever taken any pro-biotics? Maybe get a couple weeks worth and just lay off drinking for a month and then try having a couple and see how you feel. |

Yes. I tried Omission and had good results. I also have good luck with Bourbon.

No problem here, but I regularly go years without getting drunk. A hard drinking week for me is 6 beers. I like whiskey too. I just don't drink to get drunk.

Almost 60 and can't drink single malt anymore because of acid reflux. Switched to 4 Roses small batch and no problems.
Beer......switched to Pilsner and no more problems. |

It never did agree with me. The smell made me feel about half sick. The taste was just nasty. As a teenager, if I wanted to get drunk I either drank wine or stuff like vodka, gin, bourbon, etc.
I really didn't like wine that much but after a couple good drinks the taste didn't bother me much and I could keep drinking it. I haven't been drunk since 1976 or maybe early 1977. |

Nope, hard liquor did it to me. Beer is all I can drink anymore (but I try to cut back).
