There was a film crew in New Orleans asking
hundreds of local high school students how
they felt about the monuments about a year ago.

The majority of the HS students they interviewed
had no idea who was on the monuments and
many couldn't even explain what role Robert E. Lee
played in the Civil War.

I remember seeing interviews of College grads that didn't know who we fought for Independence,or what countries were involved in the World Wars.

Same with people that couldn't name the Vice President,number of Justices on the Supreme Court,or what any of the first ten Amendments to the Constitution were.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with where we are and where we are headed though...................

Not a very popular thing to say in GD, but my family fought for the Union. Even so, I think the removal of confederate history is childish and dangerous.

Even if the confederacy was actually the rebellion built on evil that these people see it as, that would make it even more important to preserve.

I find it unsettling the way Japan brushes WW2 under the rug.

Well, I'm not for the slavery aspect of the Confederacy, but there's no point in taking down the monuments. The Union won the war a long time ago, the confederate monuments don't represent not accepting that loss.
