when my dad was a teenager he went out to some rock quarry with some friends to hang out and such, so they were standing at the edge of a big cliff and someone came up behind my dad and did the whole grab you and push you to make you feel like you were going to fall routine but was going to hold onto him to keep him from actually falling. well, i dont know the full details of how exactly it happened but the other kid couldnt keep a good enough grip or whatever and my dad fell about 60-80 feet down and survived. he said he was knocked out on impact and his next memory was waking up in the hospital a week later.

I've hiked up to that lodge several times from different trails. If my memory is correct, they send supplies to there via llamas because there are no roads leading to the top of Mt. LeConte. It was fortunate they were able to helicopter her out of there. Hoping for a speedy recovery.

Does she work at LeConte?   My wife and I went up there on election night;  cuz,  I figured the election would suck.    Awesome place.  Glad she's ok.

Edit:  read the article.    She's a hell of a cook, btw.

I was going to say I bet she won't do that again, BUT if she is as clumsy as you thought growing up who knows.

Damn glad to hear she is doing okay, now just think of all of the shit you get to give her fot the next 60 years or so.

Sweet PJ's!

I think I've sat on that cliff enjoying the view with a cigar every time I've been up there. It overlooks the trail leading up from Alum Cave.

I'm happy to hear that she's still with us. I wish her a speedy recovery. Sounds like she's going to be dealing with some lifelong complications from her injuries and that sucks, but at least she's alive!

Glad she's still alive.  As someone that had a full thickness "open" rotator cuff repair surgery and another surgery to bolt back together my shattered scapula the worst part of this ordeal is far from over...

Shit!

That photo alone gives me the heebie jeebies.

Glad she made it through, but I get the feeling she'll be predicting weather with her shoulder the rest of her life.

Do hard heads like hers run in the family?

Holy crap!  Glad she's ok.

I had a buddy just after high school fall 50' while free climbing.  His entire face was rearranged and had to have so many facial and dental reconstructive surgeries I lost count. If I remember correctly, he had to get a few abdominal surgeries (remove spleen was one) to stop internal bleeding.  Pretty impressive she went 2.5 times that and 'only' fucked up her shoulder and got some stitches.

Omg OP the wifey, our two boys (5 & 7) and I hiked and stayed the night there last Tuesday. We're sorry to hear and wish her a speedy recovery. I can't tell who she is by the photo but, everyone was super nice and hospitable. We certainly plan on returning.

Incredible that she fell that far and survived with only those injuries.
She is now in the same league for surviving massive falls from high places as Wile E Coyote.
Hoping she has a speedy recovery.
