Lil Kim is in a losing situation either way. Don't do anything and he looks like the giant twat that he is. Do act and he get his shit pushed.

What I keep hoping will happen, someday, is that the South Koreans will get tired of his shit, and go clean his fucking clock for him. |

First, isn't there a big difference between detonating a Nuke underground and building one that both fits and functions on a missile?
Second, How likely is it that they could target the carrier with sufficient accuracy and detonate the nuke at the correct time? Have they demonstrated that with missiles that have sufficient range and capacity to reach the strike group carrying a nuke? I'm assuming that they have Scuds or the equivalent - would those be able to do the job? I'm thinking that a sub on a suicide mission would be their best shot. It seems unlikely to me that the Norks could get a sub close enough to the strike group without being detected. |

Bullshit, as always.
Their midget subs can present a legitimate threat in littoral environments (ROKS Cheonan), but that's not exactly the AO for a carrier. I suspect the sonar guys on her escorts will be on their toes, though. |

I can't imagine a third world shithole dictator will be able to sink a US carrier. I am sure the ships aren't within striking range of conventional weapons. And good luck getting any artillery within range of them without being detected.

I don't get it.
Here in the states, if you shoot someone in the face who is doing nothing but talking shit, you get charged with murder. If the government does it, they're looking out for national interests or whatever the party line is nowadays. The only ethical use of force is in defense of life. |

Trickery could prevail.
Not sure how many of those clown subs fatboy has. If I was fatboy and thought to try it, it would be that way. Put every thing that floats in the water. The subs I'd hide under fishing boats or a few of them. If they will sail. Probably won't. They would only get one shot before we sunk every contact in the area. Then fatboy gets his shit pushed the fuck in. Bigly. Fatboy better have the mother of all hide out networks. |

“Our revolutionary forces are combat-ready to sink a US nuclear powered aircraft carrier with a single strike,” the Rodong Sinmun, the newspaper of the North’s ruling Workers’ Party, said in a commentary. If you have enough of them out there, it's certainly possible to some damage to a naval force that is technologically and numerically superior. It's like the guerilla warfare of the sea. That's not to say that I think they're going to sink 7th Fleet or anything, just that they do pose a threat, in some circumstances, to an extent. |
