This is something I often wonder about:
We all know people who have mental problems or emotional problems. But how much of their behavior is due to them being mentally messed up and how much is due to them being a jerk? Like suppose your brother is clinically depressed and an alcoholic. Fine, he can't help it. But suppose he gets a bunch of DUIs and he bullies his wife. He can help that part. He doesn't have to drive drunk and he doesn't have to be a bully. Those things are voluntary. People who are messed up often get a pass for doing stuff that has little to do with their mental problems. I knew a teenage girl who was having a lot of problems, she's bi-polar. So while she was a teenager, she walked all over her parents. They just didn't know how to cope with her. Now she's in her 30s, and she's still doing the same shit. Throwing temper tantrums, "acting out" like a 5 year old. She was literally raised to think that throwing dishes is OK because she's bi-polar. So anyway, I realize that being a child star messes up your brain. But Happy Days ended 33 years ago. Is 33 years is enough time to get your shit together? When she started sticking that heroin needle in her arm, was that due to being a child star? |
