I'm not complaining at all, but in some regard, I wish I had waited for the 1:10" twist, although I'm fine with the 250s and even 285s.  Back in January of 2006, there weren't a lot of .338LM options that I could choose from--PGW, A.I., Blaser, M-700, MCM and the GAP, but you know the drill.

I still want a 338LM and shouldn't have ever passed up on that AWM for $4300 on GunBroker last year

I also like the HK hooks of the AW/AE series over the QD swivels of the AT/AX rifles.  I just don't trust the QD swivels as much as the HK hooks when I have $7K/17lbs of rifle hanging on them.

If you aren't a full time shooter, I doubt many could appreciate whatever difference there is.

Sako/Tikka are the only brands of bolt actions I would consider now.

The AT isn't that different if you leave all of the rails off of it.  Also, you can get the thumbhole kits for the AT to make it look basically identical to the AW.

The pistol grip is better though than the thumbhole to me anyway after using both (AE and AT).

Not at 7K.

The Euro is destroying the spanish gun market.  I was looking heavy at an AYA or Grulla but they are starting to command low end english prices.  So I bought a turkish.

I want the Euro zone to break up simply so I can buy good spanish (basque really) sidelocks for a good price.

One of the big makers just folded because they weren't with AYA and Grulla in quality buy still 3Xs the price of a really nice turkish.

I paid $3200 for my AYA and sold it for the same. I'd like another in 20.

I have been watching that one for at least a year now.

They started out at almost $9K for that thing

Cabela's also fails to realize that the year isn't part of the model number (ie 11 AW means it was made in 2011 and is an AW).

Another example of their stupidity is here.  They had it at $12.5K for the last 8 months or so before dropping it to a mere $9.7K recently....morons

Love my AE MKIII. Accuracy International build some beautiful and extremely accurate rifles. I'm by no means a good shot, but this combo was still good for 0.675 MOA when I took the challenge.

For the Good ol' US of A rifles, yes
Ours are Walther (Germany) or Sassen Engineering (UK)
View Quote
As far as I know, for the UK Barrels, AI has used Lothar Walther (not related to the gunmaker Walther), these were the most common on the AW rifles. They have also used Border Barrels which were bought out and have now moved to Birmingham and are called Sassen Engineering. They also had a few Australian barrels made by a company called Mad dog. You can tell which are which by serial number. AI UK used to be able to tell you if you phoned them up which barrel you have.

For the US they were primarily Bartlein, chambered by Dave Tooley.
More recently, the AI North America owner and the US Importer (Scott) teamed up with AI owner Tom Irwin to create the barrel company WIN Tactical. As far as I know they also use, or did use Bartlein blanks.

I have barrels made by all listed in various configs spread over my AI collection.

My favorite, my newest one, AI AXMC in .338LM with a WIN Tactical barrel.

I love the AI, and the buyer from the OP has a great rifle! I'd love an AW with the serial number range he'll be getting as it'll be an instant collectors piece.
