I have taught my kids there are something that as a society has decided to accept but IMO is still wrong as too boys fucking. If Disney did a whole movie with a gay prince and it raked in a grand total of $500,000, the market just said, "Knock it off with that shit." There's plenty of other movies out there, and people will vote with their wallets. I also do think there is a place for mild references to it. Ten years ago (maybe eight?) I had a student quietly explain that one of his moms would come in on parents' night and he begged me not to tell anyone that he has two moms. Turns out only a handful of his friends even knew, and the "other lady" that would occasionally get him from school was always a "neighbor" or "babysitter." It shouldn't be that big of a deal to acknowledge people's existence. Obviously we don't need to see the mechanics of gay sex played out, but the same goes for any sex in a kid movie. Hell, for most TV shows, they don't even acknowledge that working class families exist. Everything looks too prim and proper most of the time. |

Oh, and that "scientific data and actual research performed by professionals" comes from the same sober, scientific-minded professionals that recognized that homosexuality was a mental illness just a few short decades ago... until it became such a political hot potato that they suddenly changed their diagnosis and discovered that it wasn't.
