Now you went and did it, OP. They are typing in "Ya'lls". That's when you know you've got them riled up here. LOL
The only time they do so is in these Texas defense or chest thumping threads. I'm always amazed at our Texas members. They remind me of people from WI. Lots of loyalty to their state. Never really seen anything like it. but I'm good with it. They love their states. Like whenever you hear a story about BLM, Black Panthers, terrorism, illegals killing people, liberal politicians or any other social ills. The first resonses are "Ya'll il never hear about that shit down he-yah!". And then it happens down They-ah And then it's ......."Well.....that's in that Faggot town Austin" or where ever they try to detract it from. I get it. "Texas proud". I'm good with that. It's a thing, just like Wisconsin. It's all about big woods, plaid shirts, ice fishing, Friday fish fry and Old Fashioneds. All part of a regional culture that people love and try to hold onto very closely.............. and then you have to try to explain the liberal shitholes like Madison and Milwaukee. It's that crazy cousin at every family event you have to make excuses for. And it just pisses them off to have to make those excuses rather than to just say that it isn't 100% one way or the other. I like Texas. They are strongly independent and their economy seems to flourish as others flounder. It's a cool place. I've been there a few times, but the whole "TEX-ASS!" thing gets a little old after about 5 days. |

Texans are like dark matter Brits, completely unable to take the bantz.

Not my only interaction with a Texan but my favorite.
Texan trucker shows up to our loading dock in January in MN. He asks..." What is with all those trucks parked out in the middle of fields next to little shacks?" Me..."Those are frozen lakes and they are parked next to ice houses and they are fishing" Texan trucker...."No fing way" "that was a lake?" This was years ago before shows like Ice roads |

The OP is what we in Texas would call the common denominator.
Problem ain't Texans OP. |

This thread is going almost exactly how I imagined. A bunch of Texans chiming in attacking me but not really denying my observations. A bunch of people from the rest of the country agreeing with me.

Sorry to hear that op. Texans do have a spirit of independence that is in short supply in America today. To me it's the truth that we don't need the US we are just blessing her with our presence. That's not being rude we give more than we take and have since the US paid off our debt. Better deal than Alaska. Most Texans realize deep down inside that if shit gets real we could go it alone again. People who are more independent can sound arrogant so I understand how you feel.
I like Texas and Texans. In Texas, everything is bigger. When Texans win, they win big. And when they lose, it's spectacular. If you really want to learn the attitude of how to handle risk, losing and failure, go to San Antonio and visit the Alamo. The Alamo is a great story of brave people who chose to fight, knowing there was no hope of success against overwhelming odds. They chose to die instead of surrendering. It's an inspiring story worthy of study; nonetheless, it's still a tragic military defeat. They got their butts kicked. A failure if you will. They lost. So how do Texans handle failure? They still shout, "Remember the Alamo!" That's why I like Texans so much. They took a great failure and turned it into a tourist destination that makes them millions. Texans don't bury their failures. They get inspired by them. They take their failures and turn them into rallying cries. Failure inspires Texans to become winners. But that formula is not just the formula for Texans. It is formula for all winners.” ? Robert T. PA? Jesus Christ OP. I've worked all over that state and it has been by far one of the worst places I've ever spent time in. Foul mouthed, angry and just plain dickish to people especially Texans. You wonder why we act dickish, it's cause we've been treated like shit by the lovely assholes from your state.

my grandpa fought in ww2 and Korea and can you guess the first story he ever told me. I'll give you a hint.
The enemy has demanded a surrender at discretion otherwise the garrison are to be put to the sword if the fort is taken. I have answered the demand with a cannon shot, and our flag still waves proudly from the walls. I shall never surrender nor retreat.” ? William Travis, at the Alamo |

Get a lot of folks up here from Texas due to the oil industry ties.
Never met one with a bad attitude or vibe, they tend to get a little tipsy after a few beers but they adjust accordingly. They don't even brag about the Dallas Cowboys, must be the smart ones because they know they have nothing to brag about in that regard. New Yorkers OTOH tend to be loud, obnoxious and demanding and are told to shut the fuck up or get the fuck out and don't bother even thinking about coming back. |
