It seems like a subject ripe for cinematic expression.

Because we're still not sure who the good guys were? Or even if there were any "good guys" in that conflict?
And people don't want to be reminded that 40 years after WWII most of Europe and the US were happy to sit back and do nothing about ethnic cleansing and/or genocide. |

Shot through the heart, think it was an HBO produced flick. Pretty good

He said action flick. Only the Owen Wilson flick really qualifies and it wasn't good. The others were dramas or morality plays with a lot of Euro angst and exposition.
There were really no good troops there, they were all kind of a hodge-podge of amateur killers, thugs, and psychopaths and we really didn't have to do much to shut them down. Not like Fallujah or Sangin or Tora Bora. |

A good bit of Spy Game took place in Sarajevo I think. Also Behind Enemy Lines is a good flick. But to answer the question, it's probably because nobody knows what the Hell those wars are about, and the American viewing public really wouldn't relate.

Underground, directed by Emir Kusturica
Edit: ok so it's a thought provoking European movie, not as much 'splodeyboom as American sensibilities prefer. Still, it's a masterpiece that encapsulates that war perfectly. |
