Try having a couple of A-10 do a simulated strafing/bomb run on you while working out in a large field. They did it quite often when I was doing custom ag application . Kinda gives you the willies, I didn't care it was impressive. I'd wave, most of the time they'd wave back, when they peeled off in a 90* bank turn.. Have a buddy who owns a large quarry/gravel plant at The Lake of the Ozarks, they would come in low over the lake and do the same on his place. He didn't care, but the uppity neighbors complained enough they got it stopped. View Quote Search 225-227 MHz. You will hear them nearly every day doing CAS training. |

WTF is a "doctor killer" is it 1965 again? beech bonanzas falling from the sky??!!!? or is that some cutesy leftist term much like those evil automatic assault rifles people don't need because they kill children as soon as you turn your back on them!! View Quote |

He was low enough that he rattled my house and if he were going slower I could have easily read the number on the side of the plane. I saw the number, but it came and went so fast it didn't register. Look, even if I had his number I never said I would report him to the FAA, just wondering if I should. I worry about the "doctor killer" airplanes as some pilot friends have described them. By "doctor killer" they mean someone with enough money to buy some airplane, but not enough experience that they should be flying it because the airplane flies faster than the pilot can manage. I don't need an airplane crashing into my neighborhood. If he (or she) continued to buzz my neighborhood so low, I'd probably start by looking up his plane, and emailing a picture of it to the pilot if I could find it, just like arfcom did about 15 years ago. View Quote Sound is hard to judge as well some of the older piston engines are loud as hell and if it was a single engine turboprop or radial even more so |

Must have been taught by my instructor, "always fly a 2 or more color plane. That way witnesses will contradict each other"

We get complaints in our Blackhawks all the time. We do our best to fly neighborly, but sometimes you can't avoid things. We use a local airport that has a gov't contract for work on 47s. We'll practice slopes here, roll ons, etc. There's a douche that lives somewhere nearby that likes to take pictures of us with a high power lens so he can report us.
Don't be that douche OP. |

OP makes me glad my old 172 had the 3" numbers instead of the currently required 12" numbers!

And we wonder why everything fun is illegal.
Did he harm you or anything you own? No. He just made you overly concerned. Leave it be. |

The only plane that buzz my house are A-10s.
'murica, freedom. |

I still remember this one. Article said the people were not home but an adult son was later found dead inside.

"Hello dispatcher, I just moved out to this rural area and someone out here is shooting a gun!"

I'd say altitude was about 0. |

There used to be some guy with a Pitts Special give us a free show every once in a while.

I'm going counter to the trend here. That pilot should be practicing his strafing on something with no people in it. Don't overrate the ability of people just because they are in an airplane. Airshows are dangerous, amateurs putting on their own airshows is a liveleak video waiting to happen.

The pilots I know think of the FAA the way gun owners I know think of the ATF.
No, I wouldn't rat him out. |

I refuse to do anything to help the government, especially the FAA.....let 'em burn

I was in the Army Guard. We were a helicopter unit and got calls every now and then. One guy like OP had called the FAA first.
FAA: Did he hit your house? No? OK then have a nice day. View Quote |

My thinking exactly, practice on a moving target, in a somewhat, real world situation. If I wasn't running an AB GPS line , I would do some evasive maneuvers. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Interestingly enough, the same thing happened about 15 years ago when I lived in a different part of the country which lead to the creation of CoC #5. I posted pictures of the plane and people ran his number through the FAA. Within a short amount of time people were posting his name, home address, place of employment and actual pictures of him. IIRC, he was a teacher at a local school and one of the members here was a former student. I sent him a link to the thread on this site and asked him if it was such a good idea to fly so low. SHAZAM! CoC # 5 was born. View Quote |
