You carry ammo that won't even go through a TV? Anyway, glad no one got hit.

glad you are okay. I know the feeling of thinking you are shot.
My friend and I came in from a day of hunting on some property. We were unloading everything and KABOOM. 30-06 in a trailer is real loud, he was standing right next to me. Luckily he only shot a window out. |

Surprisingly they didn't! Can't explain that one because they're usually running to hide soon as they hear a gunshot.

so your buddy is gonna buy you a new TV, right? Quoted:

Yikes,
Glad your OK. I take the round out of the chamber as soon as I un-holster my CCW when I get home. Scary stuff. |

I'm in for the rest if the story...what happened after? |

Not to pile on but for what reason do you do this. Honestly curious.

I have found that what first time shooters instinctively do is put their finger on the trigger. It is such a natural place to rest the finger, they just can't help themselves. I always start new shooters with a blue gun or even a realistic looking squirt gun. Something that has realistic look and feel (and a trigger) but something we can make mistakes with and take corrective action. Only after they can demonstrate the Four Absolutes do I move on to "real" guns. Yes, some people never make it past the blue gun stage. If they are not taking it seriously or cannot take instruction (too macho) I suggest a game of Golf instead. Sorry OP but I believe this one is on you. You assumed the role of Instructor, you created a classroom and you created the circumstances in which a "student" was able to handle a loaded firearm not under your immediate control. Glad nobody was injured...or worse. View Quote I'm glad you're ok OP. Don't ever lay your firearm down on the table in front of someone that you don't trust implicitly again. |

Why would anyone take there gun off in the house?Put gun on when you get dressed and take it of at night when go to bed.
I am glad you are OK. |

I think first think first is,
Go to the store and buy your dogs some treats. Their ears are probably still ringing. Plus good dogs always need treats, or atleast mine do also have a question, why do you unholster your gun to set it down loaded? If you do not want to carry it why not take off the holster too (To protect the trigger) Especially around someone who is new to firearms. not judging just honestly curious. |

why not take the entire rig off? Holster and gun? That way gun stays holstered. Reduce the administrative handling of a loaded firearm.

It will go through a rib just fine. Can't find it at the moment but couple guys tested on a beef slab with ribs and the damage was devastating. Worry more about 12in minimum penetration in gel and less about "over penetration". Any effective defense load will overpenetrate, period the end. |

Liar! Usin' that cheapass blue glasser. Seriously though, that sucks. Honestly, I don't know what surprises me more; that the Glasser didn't go through or that a prefab house will withstand a wall mounted TV that big. |
