We need an emergency Arfcom law declared that this thread can't be bumped until OP does it. I appreciate the long game in this case, but seeing it up top in my subscription list with no updates makes me sad on the inside. View Quote I'd be a lot more comfortable with an "in it to win it" rule where the thread starter had to see it through. No "safe threads" that amount to nothing. Finishing a project THEN starting a thread about it seems less prone to failure anyhow. I could understand if OP threw away this pistol because it was beyond saving. I'd just like to hear him say it. |

The thread author has been busy posting photos of his so in botd. He is occupied with less troublesome endeavors.

I'm guessing OP locked the oil bucket w/ the pistol in a safe & forgot about it. His son will be along in 15 years w/ a safe thread...

Awwww come on OP. Just tell us that you fucked it up, been knee deep in pussy or you're on the run from the IRS. Something, anything.

Butcher the fuck out of the pistol to match his work on his antique Aston muzzleloading pistol. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1886846_-ARCHIVED-THREAD----H--Aston-and-Co--Percussion-Cap-Pistol-.html&page=3 View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Oh damn! Is there anything op can do to make you change your mind? http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1886846_-ARCHIVED-THREAD----H--Aston-and-Co--Percussion-Cap-Pistol-.html&page=3 I wasn't able to get a trigger guard for it. I could have done a better job at fixing the broken butt (but it was my first time attempting anything like this). Oh, and I was able to get the broken extractor out and was able to thread a new nipple on; it's a little crooked but I'm never going to shoot it anyway. Besides, I may end up fixing the nipple at some point. I replaced all the lock parts, found the new reproduction hammer and got it all back together. |

I confused the two of you in my response. I stopped posting in your Aston thread after you irreversibly butchered the repair.
Not pissed, disgusted by your work. The Colt still has hope. |

View Quote I had no experience in it and since the gun was already broken and parts are hard to come by I figured I couldn't fuck it up any more. It was never going to be fired again and I had no intention on ever firing it. I still don't have experience fixing stuff like this. I won't ever do it again. Sorry to disappoint you. It's in a lot better shape now than when my father had it. At least now the lock functions as it was designed. And the OP's Colt. You can consider it vaporware. He's never coming back. |
