I'd be a lot more comfortable with an "in it to win it" rule where the thread starter had to see it through. No "safe threads" that amount to nothing.

Finishing a project THEN starting a thread about it seems less prone to failure anyhow.

I could understand if OP threw away this pistol because it was beyond saving. I'd just like to hear him say it.

Well, since the OP hasn't been back to update his thread and it's somehow made it back to the first page and my thread has gone to the archived gods and since @AeroE is pissed for some stupid reason.

I wasn't able to get a trigger guard for it. I could have done a better job at fixing the broken butt (but it was my first time attempting anything like this). Oh, and I was able to get the broken extractor out and was able to thread a new nipple on; it's a little crooked but I'm never going to shoot it anyway. Besides, I may end up fixing the nipple at some point. I replaced all the lock parts, found the new reproduction hammer and got it all back together.

How again did I irreversibly butcher the repair? The lock work was already broken. I tried to repair it but it was too far gone. So I found replica parts. As for the broken extractor, I got it removed and got a new nipple in.

I had no experience in it and since the gun was already broken and parts are hard to come by I figured I couldn't fuck it up any more. It was never going to be fired again and I had no intention on ever firing it. I still don't have experience fixing stuff like this. I won't ever do it again. Sorry to disappoint you. It's in a lot better shape now than when my father had it. At least now the lock functions as it was designed.

And the OP's Colt. You can consider it vaporware. He's never coming back.

so ive been working a shit ton the past couple months and havent had time to do anything with the colt.

its been sitting in an ATF mix this entire time. I finally got some time today to play with it. Still stuck on like the day i found it.

need to mix up some more fluid and let it sit until this weekend when ill actually have time to beat on it.
