in the past couple of weeks i have seen more specials on primers and powder than i have seen in the last couple of years . is it salad days for reloaders on it way?
That would be nice. Been waiting for my arm to heal so I can start reloading again. Just now told me to start working on strength and can think of no better way,
Does this mean that all the reloading supplies will go for 50% of what they were 15 years ago?
It's unbelievable how much powder has jumped up in 15 years, it's more than double. And pretty much the same for primers and projectiles. Not quite as bad for brass, but still bad enough. LC |
I'd call it a recovery
the salad days were back when stuff was cheaper It's nice seeing stuff on the shelf again |
I'm still waiting for cheap 556 brass.
i have over 18k bullets but the cost of brass makes it almost pointless to reload. it cost me 18 cents for bullet, primer and powder. Once fired prosessed brass is 11 cents. So 29 cents per round with used brass or 31 cents for new. |

That keg cost me 47.99. Shortly after opening it I finally found a keg for sale at $159.99..... No salad for reloading supplies, just a little shelf stock |

Get a brass catcher and go to town, 1-2k at a time. If you're looking at buying new brass you may as well buy factory ammo and use that as a brass source at those prices. |

The salad days are long gone. The price of components plays a large part in my choice to not get back into reloading after a 27 year laps. For what I can buy cheap blasting ammo for it just isn't worth my time for the popular calibers.

Our Big R has a shit load of powders, I personally have more powder then I'll ever be able to load.

I hate Win SP because they won't feed in my Frankfort primer tube filler.

Now it's $83.99 on sale at Midway!!!! $35 adjusted for inflation is $51.31. So bullets are up 55% over inflation. |

I would vote for Hillary Clinton just not to see the words "salad days" on this forum again

Me and one other guy were the only reloaders. He came with a plastic grocery bag. I came with a 5 gallon bucket. When we left each one was full. |

I have a ton of once fired brass and I don't reload but I shoot a lot and clean up my range

So are primers back down to $12/brick? 8lb commercial powder to $100? Is OP schilling for the distributors?
I haven't seen any lower prices locally. But I pretty much only shop one place. They're at $30-35/lb of powder. They give me the 'you spend way too much money here' discount, but it still hurts.
A friend of mine has an account with a wholesaler, I've been looking at ordering some powder from him as he'll sell to me at cost. There's just the matter of the hazmat fee. |
I stopped looking, and for the most part reloading, a couple of years ago. I'm guessing I unsubscribed from all of those email lists too.

Are the wideners CCI prices still good with the $30 hazmat? I am out of SPP
Yea I'm collecting components but not reloading it, prices on factory ammo is just too low so I'm buying components and new shooting the new and saving the brass and reloading it for future use so when prices go back up I'll have plenty.
Fyi, Natchez has no hazmat fees today.
Edit, Shit, I just caught the fine print. Orders of 150 or more. |

I buy when I can get good deals. Weidners had a super sale a few months ago. I got 1500 or so .357 cal bullets in different weights for about $.06 cpr.
My last purchase was 5k SPP and I got them shipped to my house for $.0275 each. I have never, in all my reloading days seen the prices that are mentioned from the reloaders of the 70s and 80s. Even adjusted for inflation, I have never seen close. |
So you're saying it's only going to get worse...
Just FO'd... should be set for the life of my Loadmaster |

Not even close. You'll be at about 9 cents a bullet and 7 cents or so on powder, plus another 3 on primer.
19 cents a round and I have to fuck with brass prep or 21 cents a round for Wolf blasting ammo. No, its not salad days. Not even fucking close. |
Last time I was at Cabelas they had 231. I hadn't seen that stuff in YEARS and YEARS. They had just about every kind of powder I ever bought. Prices sucked though.
Primers have been back for years, but ten bucks over what they were before the crash. |

View Quote I'd say it's salad days for everything but reloaders. Just because stuff is in Stock doesn't mean it's salad days. Get back to me when primers are back down to 15/k for pistol/rifle and 20/k for shotgun. |

Just wish good plated 45 bullets like Berrys would go down. Stuff is readily available again but prices are still pretty high
