A decent aged rum, lime and ice. Can also substitute the rum for tequila.
I will also occasionally do the mojito- rum, lime, mashed mint leaves, simple syrup and a splash of soda. Tequila and Oj Vodka and the simply brand raspberry lemonade is also damn good |

Jack and coke. But I rarely drink liquor any more. The older I got, the less it agreed with me.

When on/near the beach: Meyers and OJ When I'm enjoying a nice steak dinner: Manhattan Drinking at a bar: Gin and Tonic I know theat one does not qualify for you, but it's what I will drink the most when I'm out. If it's available: caipirinha This is my favorite drink of all. Therefore, this is the winning answer. View Quote From the Brazilian folks I've talked to, a proper caipirinha is made with limes, extra fine sugar and vodka. According to them, only bums drink cachaca. |

As someone who fancies himself an amateur bartender, my favorite two simple drink recipes are the whiskey sour (bourbon and sour mix--I make my own sour mix but you can find something serviceable at the store) and pineapple juice with spiced rum (for the summer). Nothing wrong with either.

Pedialyte and grain alcohol.
Gin and iced green tea is pretty good. |
|
Ice-cold Tito's Vodka straight from the freezer; alternatively, mixed with real cranberry juice.

Mixing is only allowed when on vacation at the beach, and even then it's typically just joining in with the wife hoping she gets drunk enough to do something kinky.
