It's not just to disrupt his plan. If he wants to take you someplace different, that means he's unwilling, or at least uncomfortable doing to you what he has planned, right where you're at. If they want to kill you, they can kill you right there. There are fates worse than simple killing. Make noise, create a scene, but whatever you do, do NOT go with them, no matter what. There is always a reason why they want you away from that location, and none of it is any good for you.

A brave little girl.

Audio I heard was of a man ordering them down a hill.

Not to derail the thread but NEVER allow yourself to be taken to a secondary location. Ingrain this in your wives and kids heads.

This seems like very good advice.

Anything you can do to disrupt the bad guys plan is probably a good idea.

I bet this guy is holed up somewhere hiding like a rat.

We should bring burning at the stake back for special circumstances such as this.

EXACTLY
Thank you for expounding on that.
The thought that "if I do what he wants maybe he won't hurt me" plays into the urge to cooperate and that's a false sense of security.
Either run or stand and fight right there.

Post offense behavior-- this slime bucket will likely be stressed and if he drinks, will be drinking even more than usual due to fearing he will be caught and relishing-reliving the kill.  He will be following the news religiously and will know more about the case than the average joe due to his fear of capture.  He looks like an older person, patient and methodical and maybe he is a hunter and lives, works or grew up in the area.   He strikes me as very organized based on his outfit and I think he may have spotted the girls before and was laying in wait for them.   He was dressed in his "killing" outfit.  When he got close enough to the girls, he drew his weapon or weapons.

What specifically about the outfit says "organized" to you?

I certainly think you could be right with the rest of your assessment.

Looking at how he was dressed made it difficult to see his face clearly.  He also seemed dressed appropriately for the terrain and for protection against the elements.  He could stay in those woods for a while as he waited for the girls or the right victims.  His heavy clothing would give him the ability to conceal a firearm and even edged weapons.  From the recording he sounds cool, calm and collected and he is directing the girls to go to lower ground where they will be out of the view of witnesses so he can do his evil deeds in peace.  He had a premeditated plan and it worked sadly.

Yeah, and maybe older too.  I hope the police can get that one photo enhanced so that a composite can be made.    If the slimebucket smokes, he might have left behind a bunch of cigarette butts when he was roaming those woods.  Maybe he left his saliva on them for a DNA test.

Maybe it isnt a good idea to publicize the fact that cameras will be placed on that trail, because it might scare this guy and keep him from returning to the crime scene.  Sick ducks like this one love going back to the crime scene to relive the murders.

I am friends with a very beautiful lady that has an even more beautiful 21 year old daughter... the daughter is a smart, sweet girl, but kind of naive...

her mom told her if she is ever confronted by someone trying to take her away, to resist in every way possible, even if it means they kill her... She doesn't want her daughter to suffer what would happen to her if they did get her to another spot. better to be dead right there...

Knowing the source of it... the audio was chilling.

I understood the news reports to indicate that the police have the cell phone of one of the girls.  There were some snapchat pictures that the girls uploaded before they were attacked.  The guy is visible at the far end of the bridge in one of them.

There is pure evil in this world.

I don't understand how anyone could harm children like this.

My gut tells me this guy has been fantasizing about kidnapping, raping and murdering for a while.  If he has a computer, it might have a ton of kiddie porn, bondage porn.  Check the Sex Offender Registry for offenders living in that area.  Talk to hikers, locals....who hangs out there, who hunts there is it is used by hunters?

Another thing about these guys-- there is usually some sort of event that happens in their personal lives that "triggers" them from going from fantasy to actual murder.  Job loss, divorce, etc.  Some sort of stress.  No, I doubt this was random.  This was not an area with tons of victims running around,  This crime took patience and laying in wait-- just like a hunter waiting for a deer to appear.  From the pics it looks like at least part of those train tracks are elevated.   Too high to jump from to escape without being injured?  Possibly.  All the killer had to do was to lay in wait on one side of those train tracks until both girls were trapped in the middle where they could not jump and escape or run away.   He may have acted as if he were simply trudging through the woods until he was able to close the distance and show them his firearm etc to control them.

If the girls had had some pepper spray, it might have meant all the difference between life and death.  Carry it, practice taking it out of your pocket or purse without looking (the key is to keep it hidden so the attacker does not know you have it)....more important, practice placing your finger on the button and knowing how to avoid spraying yourself.   Once the perp closes distance, its game on.  Stay calm, if he has a gun or knife pretend to comply.  Once he
lets his guard down, spray the SOB and be ready if it has little effect.  If he has glasses or shades on, aim for the nose and mouth.    Run.

Read a report today that the police are requesting DNA testing results be expedited.

At least this seems to confirms that investigators think they can get some DNA.

Does anyone know the typical lead time for DNA tests?

DNA testing can be "done" in a matter of hours. The time consuming part is matching the DNA sequence with databases of offenders.

They are probably asking that the testing be performed over the weekend rather than waiting for Monday.

If they have any possible suspects (known samples) to which they compare it to it can be done pretty quickly.

Just taking a DNA sample and running that through every database looking for a match can take a long time

Maybe another angle to pursue would be the social media stuff.  Did the girls post pics of their hikes on Facebook, etc.  Maybe check their friends list and see who they were communicating with or who their Facebook friends and followers were.   If the case goes cold.....work with Facebook to check their computer records to see if any of their Facebook friends suddenly unfriended them right after the incident.   That might be their guy,  And he might  have been savvy enough to be posing as a teenager.   We know he is a pedo, and pedos do stuff like that.

Maybe I'm reaching but...

This guy is a lifetime registered child sex offender released in 2014.

He lives about a mile from where the girls' bodies were found.

He looks to be about the right age and build as the suspect in the pics.

He's even wearing a jacket/shirt with a brown hood in his mugshot, which is what the police think is covering his head in the pic under the blue jacket in the photo taken from the victim's phone.

I'm pegging the perp as an older guy who has been around the block.  This crime required patience that an older person possesses.  He was able to keep the teens disarmed enough to get close to them.  His jacket looks very baggy because I think they are filled with the rope or whatever implements that he used to tie them up and keep them from shouting for help.  Like the Zodiac killer, he possibly ordered one girl to tie up the other and then once both were helpless, he did what he did.

There was a police stament that specifically mentioned a hood. Could be a cap and a hood.

Looks to me like the bottom of a brown hoodie hanging below the blue jacket on his right side. Looks like the hand warmer pocket, even like he may be reaching into or pulling his hand out of it.

I think the terrifying thing is, these are the ones we hear about. How many happen that the parents are in on it or are missing or don't care...and thus go essentially under the radar. We had a case here in the area (Wichita ks) where a foster home child disappeared the "parents" didn't report it for YEARS out of fear of getting in trouble they thought he ran away...something along those lines....there are so many "unwanted"/"perfect victims" out there...and seems to be no shortage of deranged sick fuckers out there....wtf yet further evidence of the lack of anything resembling a god. What sort of God would allow shit like that to even be thought about let alone happen with disturbing regularity?

Ah got it I thought it was one of those fanny packs that were hot in the 90s lol. Hard to make any definitive statements based on those pics. If they have better ones they should release them if that's all they have...I'd say it's open to just this kind of interpretation.

When they catch this guy, they ought to listen to the end of Carlin's Prophets of Doom for a appropriate punishment (Tied to a Stake, Ripped apart by Heated Metal Tongs (lasting no less than 1 hour, unconsciousness stops the clock), Skeleton caged and placed on a church steeple, where it hangs several hundred years later.).

My guess is his hand is on his weapon that he used to abduct the girls,

If it has not been done already, they need to get the photo of the perp cleaned up to make it sharper and clearer.   NASA, the FBI, etc may have the tech for this.   Not like it hasn't been done before.    It is possible the police have a good idea who the perp is and have a cleaned up image but they may not want to release it yet so as not to spook this guy since he is likely following every news report to see if they are getting closer to finding him.

Hate to say it, but it would not surprise me if this guy is a member on internet forums for hunters, outdoors people and even on AR15.com.  If you are reading this, turn yourself in. May God have mercy on your soul.

The problem with cases like these is the incredible amount of tips the police have to investigate.  It is overwhekming.  Hoping the FBI still has a serial profiler unit and has a profile of the perp,  That can help trim the list of possibles being given to them via the tip hotline.

As a cop, you learn to read people's body language.  The way they stand, the way they walk.  From that single pic.....he looks to be an older guy with poor posture and possibly overweight.  Maybe someone who works or worked in manual labor for many years.

He may even be on full disability or retired, which gives him all the time in the world to roam that trail and wait for victims.

Guy could be widowed, divorced, single or living with a feeble relative or submissive spouse who wont turn him in.  Like some have said, if he has a job that is mobile, he may not even be in the area right now.

I wonder where he parked his vehicle.   Does that place have surveillance cameras or stores where he could have bought gas, cigarettes, etc?   Did he pay with a debit card?     Where are the nearest gun stores, hunting stores or outdoor supply stores?  He might be a regular paying customer.

There are ways to draw out this guy.   Going back to the original search for the girls......he might have even been one of the volunteers.  Anyone know someone who recognizes the man in the photo and his way of speaking?
