Now I just need some shit to kick!  They seem pretty comfortable right out of the box.  Gonna wear them to work tomorrow with a spare set of shoes just in case.

I didn't shell out the extra $60 to buy the Made in England ones after reading numerous accounts they simply aren't worth it, and take forever to break in.  In fact some people say the Thai / Chinese made ones are BETTER than the English ones.

Bonus boot porn:  I just cleaned and oiled my one year old Redwings today finally.  Unlike the DM's, I shelled out the extra bucks to buy the Heritage made in America ones as they're markedly better.

They were a far different beast 10 years ago, let alone 25 years.

Nice walmart boots, OP. Keeping Thailand or China strong!

I've been buying this same model of brown wingtips every few years since about 95.

Sometimes they're a little hard to source but I always find a pair.

Love em.

Never tried 'em. Everybody and their mother in high school had a pair while I rocked Chucks, Etnies or combat boots. Have always been curious though, but now I have Danners so I'll just stay curious.

Nope.  Just because they were made in China doesn't make them Walmart.

Likewise just because I also have $400 Redwings made in the U.S. doesn't make them superior to far cheaper boots.  More stylish and oldschool, yes.

My sister gave me a $25 Cabela's gift card for Christmas. I finally had some time off today.

I saw that they had Dr Martens for $100, but decided on these instead:

I used to be huge on Doc's, then they shipped most of their production to Malaysia or wherever.

I was out, in the market for a new boot. Then I saw Band of Brothers, tried Corcorans, and fell in love.

Also, as far as break-in goes, OP, are you not familiar with the wear 'em wet, walk 'em dry method? My Korea vet grandpa taught me, old army trick. Lace up the boots on your feet, dunk 'em in a tub of water, preferably warm. Soak them good, and walk them dry. You'll prune your feet doing it, but after the one day, no hot spots, no chafing, no blisters.

After that, saddle soap or shine as desired.

One of the worst pairs of boots I've ever had. They fell apart way faster than others I've worn. I bought them roughly around 2007. A few years of casual weekend wear and then three months of actual work did them in. Compared to a pair of Wolverines I wore for years and only replaced because people around me were getting pissed off seeing them in such a rough (but wearable) shape.

Used to wear 10 eye steel toes. I bought one pair after they stopped making them in England. That shit was more like plastic than leather. I got rid of them and never looked back. I would still wear them if they were made in the UK.

I hated my Docs from the day I bought them.  Wore them cause I spent too much on them, should have just kept wearing my old surplus jump boots.  Long time ago.

Ended up giving them to Goodwill

Obviously I am out of touch with today's shoe world because some of the shoes I see in this thread are pure homosexual.  The black Doc Martens look cool but its too bad they are meant for the hipster crowd.  Its obvious the world has changed when metrosexual millennial hipsters wear combat type boots and Hells Angels wear sneakers.

Had a pair of yellow (!) ones that were bought in Milan, Italy of all places.

I had no idea how to take care of them (as opposed to black ones). They looked like shit after a year (like a neglected chamois, or maybe like I made them out of human skin)

After the soles wore through I tossed them.

Docs were made for the working class originally and were adopted by punks and skins as a sign of being lower class workers/people instead of the cultured elites....only recently were they adopted by hipster douchebags

I haven't bought a new pair in years, so I'm not sure when they moved production but all mine from 20-25 years ago are still in great condition.  Back then we had made in UK, Export Quality available here, and I have one pair of 8 holes that a friend got for me when he went to the UK.  There was a big difference between the two, namely in the quality of the leather, and the UK boots didn't have the trim around the top of the boot.  Back in HS, I used to wear cherry Gibson's and 14's, then bought a pair of 20's which I ended up having cut down to 14's cause it was too much a PITA to lace everyday In total I've had 8 or 9 pairs of the years, and the only 2 I have left are the (non-export) made in UK ones, and the aforementioned cut down 14's.

I found a pair of the lower cut ones on clearance for $55. Comfortable as hell, but did not grip well on the smooth concrete floor at work. Almost ate it a couple times and now they're buried in the closet somewhere.

Do they still weigh a ton?

I used to wear them when they were in style for middle school. I remember them weighing a ton, sole heavy so you would kind of stumble sometimes.

I wear lucchese or Justin mostly now. Although, I bought a pair of Thursday boots a year ago and love them.

Started wearing these when I worked offshore diving, it's what probably 2/3rds of what everyone on the boats would wear.  Cheap, salt water doesn't kill them, don't slide around if there's oil or hydraulic fluid on the deck.  Would last for a year or two repeatedly getting flooded in waves, then dried out in compressor houses.  Padded akle makes them fit like lace up boots plus doesa great job with impacts from crap. Toe box is nice and wide and tall so even though it's steel toed, they don't rub of pinch on the sides or top.  Most steel toes I've tried at least in the 11 1/2 to 12 size range have tiny little toe boxes.

Just got another pair the other day, as comfortable as I remember from years ago.

Have had various shoes of theirs as well that aren't that bad.

I used to buy nothing but Doc Martens. I had a pair that lasted 9 years. I replaced them with another pair of Martens that didn't even make it 6 months before they started to fall apart. I replaced those with another pair of Martens that again, fell apart within 6 months. Haven't bought a pair of them in probably 10 years because I don't trust them anymore.

Yep,  good boots 20 years ago.  Now they are shit in comparison.

i have a 20 year old pair and a newer pair.  Sure, they look the same, but that is it.

they must use a different leather and the sole seems to be a different compound, not sure though.

Wearing my 10 hole cherry reds today. They don't come out often but I wore pretty much nothing but Docs from 84 (think I was the first punk kid in Minneapolis with them) and only started wearing other stuff maybe 5 years ago. They become ice skates during a Minnesota winter and are really too hot for Florida. The first Asia made boots had crap eyelets. You couldn't lace them up without shedding blood. I think quality has improved but still they're more of a bit of nostalgia for me now than anything else.

I have had a pair for about 5 years. Horribly uncomfortable if I'm walking or standing for a long period of time. They aren't waterproof but then again I don't think they were advertised to be. However I would appreciate being able to walk through a couple of inches of snow and not get wet socks. They also aren't warm.

They have however held up well. Partly because I just don't wear them that often.

ETA I think these are the ones:
