Cabelas isnt far from Denton if interested. get on I-35W, go south toward Ft Worth. Very important you get going toward Ft Worth, as 35 splits in Denton going different ways. As for food, no idea actually in Denton. Babes is good though. |

Babe's in Sanger or a little south in Roanoke. Also Rudy's BBQ in Denton or Hard 8 BBQ in Roanoke.

World Famous Mom's in Aubrey, TX. It's in old town Aubrey and has fantastic, home cooked food. Their chicken fried streak is the best. It's about 20 minutes from Denton.

Fuck, do I miss 90s Denton OP, I'm sure you'll find someplace if you keep digging around. Denton is a funky college town that has enough to keep anyone entertained for at least a night or two. Going to Roanoke or Flower Mound to eat |

i live in denton, which has no noteworthy eateries. it's a college town, with all that entails. there's a new place called 940 just off the square that i hear is pretty solid. my dojo is next door, and walking by the place it looks competently put together. there's also apparently a top-shelf sushi place run by a guy who barely speaks english, but i need to ask my instructor where it is. honestly, you're probably going to need to head over to frisco/plano/addison to find actually good restaurants. if you have the time, kenny's woodfire grill on belt line is worth the trip--whatever steak you get, make sure to get the port demiglaze. i could drown myself in that stuff and die happy.

Ask the Ohio transplant.
He has lived in Texas for about 90 minutes and knows every thing about the place. |

My only experience in Denton was we stopped at the Hooters for lunch on our way to Wichita.
Big hair and big breasts....so there's that going for Denton...if you are into that kind of stuff. |

There's a place we called 'Jesus Bar-B-Q'. That's not it's real name but it's right next to a storefront church with a huge Jesus sign and from the road it looks like the Jesus sign is over the restaurant. It's within a few blocks of I35E on the west side. If you don't want the meat, the catfish is very good.

The square has plenty of great eateries. My opinion only, Barley & Board is tops at a decent price. The pork chop rocks. For burgers go to LSA or Roosters. Just down from Roosters is a place called Tex Tapa (sp) and its unique. Yea, it's a college town and wants to be a mini Austin but the town has plenty to offer.

Quoted: Drive back down to DFW for Bone Daddy's House of Smoke View Quote Yeah, send the guy to the Hooter's of BBQ. I-35W northbound is torn up from downtown well past 820. Southbound, I don't think it's torn up as far north as Cabela's. He's coming s from Denton, should be fine if he wants an elk burger. Hearing good things about Hard 8. How long you in town, OP? |

Head north to Sanger and go to Babes Chicken Dinner House View Quote This for sure. Get the chicken fired steak. It won't disappoint, since you will want to veg on the couch for hours afterwards. Also, try Rudy's at I-35 and Teasley. Some people knock it, but IMO they are my baseline for TX BBQ. There are a lot worse, and a few better places, but they are consistently solid across the board with everything they make. Tell them it's your first time there, and they will give you a sample of whatever you ask for before you buy. Meat is priced by the pound, but you can get it 1/4 lb at a time. |

Rudy's isn't bad. I'll argue some of the best D/FW BBQ is Soulman's - they've got one in Lewisville, just down I-35E from OP:

Babe's in Roanoke. Reno Red's in Roanoke. Hard 8 in Roanoke. I just grabbed Taco Bell for work in Roanoke.
I live in Roanoke. Can you tell I live in Roanoke? Roanoke We have some good restaurants on Oak St. There's a reason we're called the Unique Dining Capital of Texas. I'm not sure what it is, but I'm sure there is one. |

Bone Daddy's in Austin is pretty good. Can't speak to the one up in DFW area.

Rudy's can choke on a dick. Some of the most awful barbeque, inflated prices, and horrible service. Managed by a couple of dickheads as well.
I don't have a strong opinion about them or anything. But seriously fuck that place. They need to go out of business. |
