Donald Trump is tapping Gen. John Kelly to run the Department of Homeland Security, CBS News confirms.
The final request and acceptance, sources told CBS’ Major Garrett, occurred while Kelly was traveling in Europe. His pick for DHS secretary will be announced by the transition staff in the coming days. Kelly is the third general tapped by the president-elect, joining Gen. James Mattis, Mr. Trump’s pick to become the next secretary of Defense, and Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, Mr. Trump’s incoming national security advisor. Like Mattis, Kelly is a Marine with a reputation for bluntness. Kelly was the commander of U.S. Southern Command until earlier this year. General Kelly is a great man and Marine. I think he will do a great job. His son, a young Lieutenant, was KIA in Afghanistan with 3/5 during a green on blue attack, I remember hearing about it shortly after it happened. |

Kelly should be able to remove a bunch of the mealy mouthed bureaucrats at DHS HQ/CIS HQ, and Office of Immigration Counsel as well as scrap a bunch of Janet Napolitano and Jeh Johnson's liberal policies and introduce some truly enforcement minded policies for a change. Makes me wish I could come back out of retirement.
It's too bad Trump can't clone General Mattis and nominate him to the State Dept. to weed out those HQ commie jackoffs that run that bastion of leftist swill. It's scary that Trump is even entertaining the thought of weasels like Romney and Hunstman. These guys are just compromisers that go along to get along. State Dept. HQ needs to be cleansed and fumigated. Same for the DOJ HQ/HQ FBI. |

Kelly, who served nearly 46 years in the Marine Corps, is the highest-ranking American military official to lose a child in combat since 9/11. His son, Marine Lt. Robert Michael Kelly, was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2010. ETA Liberals screaming not even close to being tired of winning.
