I bought a rock island 1911 and it was ok but when @Chase45 told me how to properly hold the gun things started to suck. Sharp painful edges everywhere. But I though why give up when I have a dremel.
Needs a little more work but it feels hugely better in my dick beaters. Some cold blue fixed the logo on the slide (I fucking hate high vis logos on guns) and then there was the front sight. It was just a blade. I hit it with a center punch and then drilled out a hole and bam. Better front sight  Attached File Attached FileThis gun might not suck so bad when I get done with it. |

Forgot about the main spring housing. Cut those corners down too.

Before I put the fiber optic front sight on my RIA Tac, I did the same thing you did, dimpled the front. But I got some white epoxy and filled the hole afterwards, it made a nice white dot sight.
I also hit my slide with Cold Blue, looks so much better.

I took a RI gun to a class to concealed carry.
We shot about 600 rounds over 4 days. My hand hurt like hell due to the very same problems OP was having. I took a file to mine as they weren't so bad. It feels much better now than it did and I don't have to use a glove when I fire it. |
