I had a bit of support on the other thread and have not seen it addressed but, Would it be better to have the menu bar

Agreed. It worked before the site update View Quote It has always worked based on the last post on the page you read, otherwise it has no way to know where on the page you stopped reading. This new site could probably do that, but that would come later. Trust me, it has not worked in the way you think. I still have the old site running and can provide video proof if you really don't believe me, but since I know the code, I think you can trust me! In order to know your actual post position, I would need to have your client call the server as you scrolled, then update at the point based on your scroll focus with the id of the last post on the page. The intensity of that transaction (or continual transaction, even buffered) would not be worth the resources. Just too intensive. I probably could come up with a more streamlined way to do it, but it was not in the old site in that manner. |

I have a suggestion for the feedback display:
0/0 87/0 69/1 the percentage isn't terribly useful anyway |

When looking at your Subscriptions list in "full view", there is a link to the forum that any given thread is in, for each thread in the list. In mobile view, there isn't a link. I reported the same thing back on page 11, but @GoatBoy didn't think it was an issue on the server end. I have vague memories of that being a "feature" that non-members saw at some point in the past. It seems that the posts both of us reported were by non-members. Maybe just a glitch in the matrix? View Quote It's an active script for non-team. No script for team. Also only on display for them, not as they type. It could be part of the new viruses spreading. I'll try to grab a link and see what I can find out. |

Something is fucky with My EE Listings (500 zombies). Also the EE feedback is not working. One buyer trying to leave feedback can't do so.

Ok caught up so here's tonight's MASSIVE update... more to come tomorrow. I apologize to non-team for not getting the active/newest tool fixes in here. I need to redo the stored procs for them, the old ones are causing the issues. The OP highlight is back to normal and other stuff got fixed, but I will work on that tomorrow.
- fixed few 500 errors across misc areas. - adjusted fonts and application of personal font choices to thread topics, forum titles, post body (already there), and editor tool. - adjusted font pref sizes to more appropriate scale since font change altered things. - fixed generic modal issue - fixed video issues with youtube - bw hogging, display issues, etc - updated feedback to now show different icons based on feedback numbers and rating. - adjusted rating levels so 90%+ is green, 75%+ is orange, and red for anything less than that. Grey will only show for anyone with zero feedback. - Using new tooltip device for the summary number display (totals feedback and %) - adjusted join date to not show month in mobile view as it was supposed to be. - added LINK TO THIS POST as an icon next to posted dates. - hiding user signatures on small mobile views. - added bookmark icon to vertical view, which was missing. - adjusted order of buttons on userbar (under posts) as requested. - fixed post screen display for bronze users with attach buttons being out of sorts (It's now lower out of your way) - fixes to gear-locker section - updated editor to show a placeholder instead of video, helps cut down on client issues. - removed non-team video sharing. (Sorry, not worth the risk/chaos.) - fixed signature color parsing issue with old board code. - fix for media random 500 error. - fix for top poster api tool. - confirmation added to log out button for sticky and normal buttons. - fixed subscription email issues with them not being generated properly. - admin registration bug fixed (no 500 error) - removed menu option for bronze members for media. - combined read/view counts to save space and cut some extra scrolling. - mobile topic list display should be more stable for those where the author name was all over the place. - saved a little space with the paging display as well. - email notifications were back rolling earlier today. - fixed a json issue with servers - feedback button now available in the user menu for users on phones, the feedback form may need to be tweaked for phones, but still worked for me while ugly. - beta domain now forwarding back to www.ar15.com - no-archive icon back to being shown only to mods and staff to save space. Not everyone needed to see those. - images linked from media tool no longer being shown as ar15.com but www.ar15.com - forum names now active links back to page 1 - post images and videos now either neutral protocol or https (should show up for those not seeing them previously) - media delete folder error fixed - media album paging fixed - message tool confirmation messages fixed - OP Highlight for nont-team fixed - membership page in the user section updated properly - phone fixes with various spacing issues. (More still to come across all platforms!) - small bug with the FB/TW share fixed - youtube linking inside of editor will now use a placeholder to save on resources and not lag anyone out or waste BW - time issue with noon showing up as AM fixed - unbolded last post author to keep in line with author names - fixed issue with images being UP-SCALED for no reason - adjusted avatar size on user pages - fixed bug with contact profile page where it was not properly saving your settings - misc spacing issues addressed on website and we will continue to do this, so we're not even close to done! - image/content scrolling off the side of your views should be fixed, please let me know if otherwise. Please shift+reload (clear your cache) before reporting as not fixed so we are sure you have the latest files. It's working fine for me on my phone now and tested on android as well. That's the bulk of it for tonight's update. I also had to fix a bug introduced tonight with the EEFeedback (I missed it on dev... oops!) and I also failed ot push one file properly in the pack which caused those 500 errors for a few seconds. (I named a directory wrong... damn you lack of sleep!) We have a lot still on our plate and nothing mentioned here has been ignored. If I did not reply to you or address an issue, it's more than likely on the fix list. Tomorrow I'll focus first on those tool issues I mentioned when I started this post. I also need to find a nice way to allow fullscreen youtube videos to play since i haven't been able to inject allowfullscreen in properly. (Keeps hating me and ignoring my demands. Damn you code!!!! DAMN YOU TO HELLLLLLL!!!) I will be around for a couple minutes to answer any other questions and check error logs. Then off to bed. |

View Quote For you sir I will try to make it work, but it's hard to fit so much into small screens. You can use the full site if you want, it's a menu choice on the left hamburger list. Possible to fix video quoting? Currently, quoting a post with an embedded youtube video puts some broken iframe code into the post, as opposed to the video url as it used to.

Which gray box? author one? View Quote Yes sir, the author is now highlighted in a largish gray box. At least on my android phone. It's large and distracting. The first thing that draws my eye. I know it's very recent since it happened while I was browsing here tonight. Minor gripe at any rate. |

Ok no errors in the logs and things kinda quiet in here. I will check in tomorrow in the AM or after a little bit of coding. I still need sleep, so I apologize.
Will continue fixing items you all have mentioned and we will probably do another round of spacing fixed and also look at some speed issues tomorrow. |

Since I'm not going to to dig through 16 pages of this thread or look up the countless other threads related to the update...
Was the "no GIF avatars in the new site" thing a hoax? Or was it put in before it was released because of all the bitching? Because I've noticed that GIF avatars seem alive and well. |

I'm still having problems with the posts' grids being completely screwed-up. They seem to be completely random. Trying to find a pattern but still nothing.
Attached File Another terrible UI is the position of the "report" button. Its position near the "next page" and "unsubscribe" buttons already made me hit it by accident a few times. Think about people using a tablet and fingers to touch and controls things. Those three buttons became a cluster with them too close to each other. Any way to spread them along that bar where they are now or put the "report" button somewhere else? Attached File These three buttons on the upper left are completely useless in my tablet. They appear to be designed for hovering over with a mouse pointer and when I touch any of them they just blink the menu. Therefore, rendering them completely useless. Attached File I still need to test the new website on my desktop. I recall that the old one worked flawlessly both in my tablet and my desktop. Now the user experience on the tablet declined quite a lot. The site is more sluggish and seems to be running tons of scripts in the background like those clickbait websites. Any way to cleanup what's going on in the background? I appreciate that a lot of effort and probably money was put on this new site. However, just by comparing both user experiences the old one was a lot better hands down. ETA: It appears that the three screenshots I uploaded did not load. Only see little squares with crosses instead of the image. |
|
A couple more.
The main menus require me to touch twice on each of the submenus' items for it to take me there. Attached File Large image files get cropped and if the text extends over it also gets truncated. For the image files my workaround is touching them. The website resizes the image and I can see the whole thing. However, it does not work for the text. Need a horizontal scroll bar. Attached File ETA: Image posting still broke. It was working during the weekend. |
|
Subscribe and report button really close to one another.
I think I just reported myself, subscribing to a thread. Edit: This is when there is only one page, more than one page threads seperates them. |
|
Can a lock button be added to the edit screen so Op can lock their own threads?
That way OP can lock dupes or threads not going as planned without asking for mods. |
|
Still randomly going in to Mobile, even after selecting full site.
|
|
still cant see videos and some pics on Chrome on a win10 pc , OP area is just grey like nothing was posted. so we really can only see 2 posts at a time?
|
|
Please bring back the old mobile side like we had before.
Navigating the mobile site on a cell phone was light years easier. |
|
Don't know if it's been mentioned, but when I click the font color drop down, then click on the scroll bar to the right, it closes the window. At least on my computer, running Chrome (current version.) |

I'm not liking how the thread starters names are displayed on the mobile version. Very distracting. I liked it better when they weren't displayed at all.
|
|
Still too much wasted vertical space in threads.
Still can't turn off the stupid floating toolbar thing at the top. Right click browser spellcheck doesn't work in the editor. Subscription emails still not working. Too many ads. What am I paying for again? |

The row of buttons with Active Topics, Newest Topics, etc. are great. Could we add 4 or 5 buttons that are customizable for the user to set up as links to their favorite forums? I would love to click and go directly to the forums I read the most.
Thanks! BTW, the new site looks great! |
|
When in EE why do you have to click on a persons name to see their transaction stats $ .
|
|
@goatboy if you're hell bent on not displaying actual feedback numbers, can you please at least raise the threshold for the $s?
maxing out with $$$ when you have 30 feedback is ridiculous, how about 1-9 = $ 10-99 = $$ 100+ = $$$ ? new link to post is cool, and the thread author display on moblie is fantastic |
|
The site looks much better aligned today @GoatBoy !
Thanks so much for all of your efforts. Below is the only thing I am seeing now. It looks like everything lines up until the thread title hits the third line. Buy this is a minor issue, and the site is looking much better today. Thanks again! Attached File ETA: pic not uploading. Attempt #2 Attached File ETA #2: I guess pic upload isn't working for me at the moment. Gave up. Here is a photobucket image. |

The last login date is missing under user information. Was it dropped intentionally, or accidentally, or am I just overlooking it?
|
|
Since there is a link from mobile to desktop version in the main drop down, could there also be a link from desktop to mobile? I had to hunt for it and I've seen that question asked a few times.
Sometimes on my phone I might switch back and forth for whatever reason. |
