Hiked in about 2 miles this morning. Got a great spot sitting on a rock outcrop 70 yards up a ridge. About half way up. Shooting lanes everywher. As good as a tree stand.

Hope I actually see something ha.

Some other pics of the area

I know of a spot just like that in Arkansas.  I'll be taking my kiddo to drop his first deer on the Christmas hunt.

Shifting on those leaves for a shot is likely going to spook your target, FYI.

Leaves are actually a little damp. Had some rain. So they are surprisingly quiet.

last weekend...

Leaves are pretty wet and quiet. Plus I am sitting on the log with my feet up on the rock. No leaf noise. But good advice.

If you all think the flash hider looks funny  wait till you see my non detachable mag. Fuck Cuomo.

Gorgeous spot, it's raining here for the next two days, kind of sucks but I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy sleeping in this morning. I've put two doe in the freezer and they rut late down here. I'll be in the woods next weekend for sure.

Did you scout the area weeks before to see if there are signs of rubs or scrapes? Could be a complete dead zone if it is too far outside of their trails.

Yes indeed. Lots of sign in this forest.

I'm only about 1 mile from my car actually. I took the 2 mile scenic route.

That's still a long way!

I'm old and fat, so dragging distance plays heavily into my stand choices. I passed on a nice fat porker earlier this year because it was a half mile back to the truck. Up hill. In sugar sand. And it was warm out. Good buck, OK, Pig, Nah....

Nice spot OP, good luck!

Pretty out there.  I can't wait until we get some snow here.  Even a little bit would be nice.

Where in NY are you?

It's beautiful country.  My parents live in Ulster county so I usually go home to hunt there.

These are from our trip to the Adirondacks in Oct.
