Democrats trying to prevent self defense here.

Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal, a Democrat and ardent gun-control advocate, said he believes any version of a national reciprocity bill
would be “dead on arrival” in the Senate, due to strong Democratic
opposition.

Time to start the campaign for it.

They seem to forget they screwed themselves by getting rid of that super majority , now a simple majority and the house vote means it becomes law.
I hope they carve out something for my home state of jersey and other states that really do not allow an CCW.

ETA:
If they do not protect the liberal states with a federal override then I as a Pa resident could carry in jersey but a NJ resident would not be allowed to carry in their own state?
That cannot stand

But NJ has a permit system in place. The state and its political subdivisions have refused to issue permits despite having authority to do so. The state DOJ has created bad Supreme Court precedence by defending arbitrary denial. But, NONE of this prevents the state or its political subdivisions from approving permits or from arguing in court (the ultimate issuing authority) in favor of issuance.

So, the law, in and of itself, does not create the inequity you describe. Abitrary denial under a purely discretionary system creates the problem. That can be fixed by not denying arbitrarily.

This. It's time to railroad legislation we want straight through especially like this. They opened Pandora's box with selective incorporation. It's time for the states that don't respect the 2nd Amendment to gargle some constitution balls.

Let's see how confident the Democrats are of obstructing Trump's agenda. 2018 is already looming on the horizon:

Reeling Democrats confront brutal 2018 Senate map

Nothing focuses the mind of a Socialist in office like losing that office. My guess is enough of the Democrat caucus will cave on each bill to advance the GOP agenda in hopes of forestalling an even more drastic collapse in 2018. If the GOP is smart (never a given) and Trump is successful early, the Democrats are in real danger of losing enough seats to give the GOP a fillibuster-proof majority.

Honestly, I am not a fan of a federal reciprocity law.

Some states are filled with less than human filth, that prefer to be gutless sheep at the individual level.
That is their option, and only the timid, spineless, gutless, choose to reside in those states.
As revolting as it is, and those people are, it's their call.

My demand to carry in their spineless Marxist enclave, is equal to their demand my state disarms.

I'd rather just stay the fuck away from retards, morons, dipshits, and the prevailing  faggotry in the Northeast and west coast, because there is nothing worth a bent dick there anyhow.
Let them rot in their own self absorbed hubris, kill each other, and fade.

The trade off, is not worth it.
Universal carry laws means the cunts of the Northeast and west coast, get to vote for restrictions.
Pay attention to how many hogs are in the fucking pen, before you open the goddamned gate.

Pick up the the LA senate seat later this month is 52. Bait that ND senator into the DOE, thats 53. Looking at the map in 2018, getting to 60 is very much attainable.

Except there already is Universal Reciprocity for Cops, we would just be expanding it.

Why should I be denied my constitutionally guaranteed right to keep and bear arms because I simply step over a line?????  Why should the millions of conservatives in New York and California be chained?

The 14th amendment incorporates the entire bill of rights.

This is a battle worth fighting, get universal reciprocity, an even more conservative SCOTUS and add them together we could see that court deciding that the second amendment has a strict scrutiny standard and that all legal citizens have the right to carry.

Even if we don't win, we have to fight these fights, while the Dems are fighting us on our ever expanding demands they aren't on the offensive.

Don't muck up a reciprocity bill to cater to California and the NE.  Keep it clean.  NJs problems can be fixed later either by the people petitioning their state Gov't, and fixing the law, or waiting for two SCOTUS picks.

The Senate filibuster stands in the way of the national reciprocity bill. That means that 60 votes are required for cloture. The Democrats can block it.

The filibuster was done away with for federal judge confirmations below the Supreme Court level. But Sen. Orrin Hatch has announced that he will not vote to do away with the filibuster for ordinary bills. Such a change would have to made at the beginning of the session. (Other Republican Senators will follow Sen. Hatch's lead.)

Budget reconciliation bills are not subject to filibuster. They can pass the Senate with 51 votes. NFA reform (removing suppressors and short-barrel guns from the NFA, opening the MG registry) can be done under budget reconciliation (because of the tax implications), but national reciprocity cannot.

Anyway, many gun people (judging by what they write on this and other gun boards) are against national concealed-carry reciprocity. They're worried that national reciprocity will necessarily lead to national qualification standards, meaning that the strictest states would control who could get carry permits in all the states.

Given the lack of unanimity in the gun community, and the practical impossibility of passage until the pro-gun side has 60 supporters in the Senate, it might be better to put this on the back burner and proceed to other things that are more doable.

I get the sense its easier to get rid of Manchin via conventional means than the ND gal who seems to be extremely adept at not overly pissing off anyone in the state. If Trump can find a harmless place to stick Manchin for a year or so before firing his ass, I'm good with that also.

Because we are a collective of States above all, or we are nothing.

The states that refuse to acknowledge the rights of their own, and extend reciprocity to all other states, have effectively divorced the Union of states.

Federal mandate being required, means recognizing  the Marxist states refusal of recognition of the BOR.

Dunno about you, but putting my own individual freedoms on the table as a bargaining chip for Politicians to play with, is a fucking stupid thing to do.

We win as like minded states working together individually, or lose individually as a collective of states under a Federal compromise.

The Northeast and west coast have proven themselves to be no less of a threat to American values, individual freedom, and the founders values, than Kruschev, and Stalin.
Fuck 'em. They, unlike the Russians, choose to suck Marxist dick, and live there.

No shit?

Each of them would have to make an assessment of how comfortable they feel going into the mid terms with their seats in jeopardy vs. other gainful employment that does not come with the risk of great embarrassment. Given that each has signaled an inclination to cooperate with Trump and senate republicans, determining which way they may lean on that decision isn't rocket science.

This shit got 58 votes (2 shy of the needed 60) in the Senate in 2009, when the Senate was comprised of 60 Democrats and 40 Republicans. The Democrats have to defend 25 Senate seats in 2018 and a LOT of them are in states that just voted for Trump. It's laughable for Blumenthal to declare that it's "dead on arrival."

No, universal carry laws do not mean New Yorkers and Californians get to vote for restrictions because they can ALREADY vote for restrictions. You don't seem to realize the only reason we don't have national gun laws that mirror New York and California's gun laws is that they don't have the votes to pull it off. That's it. It's got fuck all to do with us not having rocked the boat with national reciprocity.
