Atticus Finch was named the Number 1 film hero in AFI's Top 100 Film Heroes list.  There is a reason for that.  And EVERY decent courtroom lawyer gets teary-eyed at the mere mention of his name.

Fuck Terry McAuliffe and all government schools.

pow, right in the feelz.  I'm a sap for that movie.  Especially when he faces down the lynch mob alone.

Although I swear to God the first time I saw the movie, I remember Atticus had a shotgun leaned up against the jailhouse wall while he was reading his book, waiting for the lynch mob.  must be the Mandela Effect.

Yes, hits me right in the feels, too.  I appreciate the reminder about Atticus at the jailhouse.  It's interesting to contemplate that much of the greatest courage in the world is probably manifested in similar ways...people quietly trying to do what is right in spite of reprisal.

Reminds me of something else that hits me in the feels.  Didn't even know a thing about it until this last year:

Sorry to go off topic from the book "To Kill a Mockingbird", but this to me is a real life example of the type of courage manifested by the character Atticus Finch.

Yep, good idea. Let's ban two of the most important books in American literature that promote the idea that man's worth does not depend on the color of his skin. Brilliant.

That would fly in the face of the special snowflake syndrome.  Imagine if everyone had personal responsibility for their own actions?  It would ruin the victim narrative!

Ironic, considering that the political right don't tend to be socialists.  Of course, the legitimacy of the accusation isn't a concern to the political left.

I have no doubts that they have already banned George Orwell and Kurt Vonnegut.

They must ban music from just about every black artist too! No more Chris Rock HBO specials, Dave Chappelle routines or anything other than Bill Cosby reruns.

I remember reading these books in middle/high school. I also remember before we even opened them the teacher mentioned that the books were written in different times and had racial words in them. We had black kids in the class. One bitched and moaned about it, but he did that about everything. And that was that, we read the book and everybody survived. Nobody started using racial slurs, nobody cut holes in their mama's bed sheets and burned a cross. Nobody needed a safe space.

Pussies today, the lot of them.

a racial word has offended her biracial son.... who likely listens to rap music, imho.

also, sheltering everyone from everything in life... leaves them 100% unable to cope with life , and experiencing things they don't like down the road ( like Hillary losing ).
