Does a Ballester Molina count as a 1911?
If not, then I also do not have either! |

A 1911 in 9mm is an abomination and a crime against humanity. You should be ashamed of yourself. No, a 9mm 1911 is accepting a truth. A 1911 is a range toy IMHO. Cheaper is better for range toys. 9mm is cheaper. For defensive use, more capacity than the 1911 is capable of is attractive. Not having a lot of $ tied up in the pistol is also a desirable trait. Being lighter is good. I like 1911s for their history, their look.....they are a classic, beautiful design.......but they are outclassed for social use in the common age. Father John Moses doesn't like you. Not all are worthy of the prophets blessing. |

I prefer my VP9 to my Glocks, but 1911's are sweet shooters too.

WTF is wrong with you. You have been on here 7 years and don't have one?

If you're going to get a Glock for a range toy get a Glock 40 MOS. 10mm longslide FTW! People at the range will look on at your hand cannon in awe. Two and four legged predators alike will cower at the first sight of its 6" slide.

I do have a 20 Gen 4, and it is excellent. |

My point was that glocks are ugly but work. 1911's are more pleasing to the eye but not quite as reliable. |

Get both as we say
Have owned a 70 series colt 38 super for 30 years...fun at the range g23 for edc...no big deal it went away for any reason...just send 400$ and replace it |

I bought a Springfield Armory RO Champion last fall and like it a lot, shoots like a dream, tempted to buy one in 45 as well.

If you going to go with the RIA flavor 9mm - shop for the Citadel offshoot that RIA puts out. They are shown more detail and love at the factory. Mine is a very well put together pistol. On my unit the fit is on par with with my SA Loaded. I lucked out!

Get a Brick-19, theyre typically el cheapo (for a reason). Heathen.

So colt 1991 or springfield range officer or....?
Wife said if I get one, has to be stainless. |

A Springfield Armory RO in 9mm and a G17 in FDE with a sight upgrade are great range choices. Cheers! |

The most reliable and comfortable handgun to shoot I own is the CZ -75DB. I own many guns.

I would take a G17 over a 9mm RIA. 1911s should only be in three calibers: 45, 38 Super, and 10mm.

I also own neither, and I'm happier for it. I got my pistol calibers whittled down to 9mm, .22LR, .357 magnum and that's it.
Pistol brands include Walther, Ruger, Beretta, S&W. |

If your hand fits a G19, get one.
1911s FTW. You're a commie fag if you haven't owned a 1911. |

If you are getting purely a range toy. Get the Glock 34 and mod it some for fun. Can get a better trigger, ported barrel and other fun stuff. It'll be same size as a full size 1911. I love shooting my 34.

Poly like a glock with big mags available, good trigger like 1911, and GD will still be raging over you not having a glock! (Plus no stoopid finger groves) |

Quoted: My $900 1911 runs like a raped ape . How is this possible ? View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Glock is a no brainer, especially if the alternative is an RIA 1911. THere are 1911's that run relaibly and are good to go out of the box. They usually cost over $3K and are chambered in .45 ACP. Seriously, the G17 is so reliable its boring. The trigger is good. It is not as crisp as a SA trigger, but that is a small price to pay for an inexpensive pistol that runs like a raped ape. My $900 1911 runs like a raped ape . How is this possible ? I know right. I have just under $2200 into 3 1911's. Not one has ever malfunctioned. What am I doing wrong? |

I hate Glocks.
I hate all the fanboi-ism. That said, having seen a lot of Glocks and 1911's at USPSA and IDPA matches, I would say get a Glock 17 or 34. The Glock will run just fine as long as they have not been subjected to some fiddle-fucking or kitchen table dremel jockey-ing. |
