The only thing that most modern day tribes care about is moar money. So the tribe was happy when the money was rolling-in. Also, if you've ever been to a number of reservations... you know they're not really into "clean up". Everything is disposable... cars, houses, dogs, and children. I'm sure there are exceptions to that generalization... but out west here, I have yet to see it. People always want to talk about the natives getting screwed-over by smallpox-ridden blankets and firewater... but the biggest way they've been screwed-over is by being taught to put their hands out to demand more. Had they had to just integrate and make their own way... they'd be just like everyone else now and not one of the nation's pity cases. Of course, the progressives have been making slaves and pity cases out of all races with their addictive drug of choice ("free" money) for generations. I don't see that changing anytime soon. |

I didn't catch the evening news, but this morning the Today show briefly mentioned that the deadline was coming up and there were still some protestors vowing to remain.
No mention at all of the piles of garbage, raw sewage, and impending spring floods that will wash it all into the river. |

I am laughing my ass off at the Standing Rock Sioux’s Prairie Knights Casino & Resort is complaining it lost 6 million dollars because these protestors blocked the road, burned the Backwater Bridge to the casino.
“There’s absolutely no doubt that the protests and the closing of the bridge have had a significant impact on people’s ability to get to the casino and just their comfort level driving down,” LaRoy Kingsley, spokesman for the reservation casino, said in a radio interview earlier in February. The Teton Times, a tribal newspaper, reported last week that Prairie Knights revenue dropped from $14 million in 2015 to $8 million in 2016, a devastating shortfall for a tribe whose casino earnings represent the largest chunk of the budget and fund badly needed social programs.
The tribal council has stepped in with $3.2 million from its Dakota Access fundraising, but that’s “only going to get us so far,” tribal CFO Jerome Long Bottom told The Bismarck Tribune. “It’s like it’s fallen off a cliff,” Mr. Long Bottom said. “When the bridge was shut off, the numbers just plummeted.”
