The solution is simple; sell the early model Madsen and acquire the late model Madsen that can accommodate the double stack magazines. Or if you already own one of the late models, just simply riding yourself of the early model fixes your need for single stack magazines. You're welcome. The problem is that my late model Madsen is semi-auto, and my early model Madsen is full-auto. Yeah, you probably shouldn't take a Dremel to a registered MG. |

SOT friend says "Rotsa Ruck". Sorry. View Quote Perhaps you can still help out with restoring the firing pins for our Carl Gustavs? I sent photos of the one original, un-ground firing pin I have, to DK, with the caliper measurements. Maybe he could forward those to you? Or I can take new ones and forward them. The pin seems to be made in 2 pieces; there is a sort of "barrel" shaped part with a complicated angle broached into it; the "pin" section is either pressed or threaded into the barrel section. Only the pin is ground down. Edit: image search on the web didn't yield much: www.ds-militarybooks.com%2Fimages%2F84mm |

Have you tried Bob Naess of Black River Militaria?
http://www.blackrivermilitaria.com/ He has several threads over in the machine gun section of Gunboards.com talking about his Madsens and magazines and his search for them. I think he might also is after 7mm ones but he also has figured out which magazines from other calibers work and what barrel conversions will work with which guns. He is a wealth of information on Madsens. |

As an interesting update, I emailed the shop in Denmark that HopSlam posted the links to above. Obviously those people know a LOT about Madsens, since they've got three different types of Madsen magazines (some of which I also have never seen before). I got an email back, and the guy said that he had NEVER seen a Madsen magazine like that, and didn't even realize that "smooth" Madsen magazines had ever been made. He's pretty sure they may be unique to a foreign contract (presumably Brazil). So they are likely even harder to find than I imagined. I am looking for 25-round single-stack magazines for the Madsen light machine gun. I will of course offer fabulous rewards to the arfcommer(s) who can find me some. There are plenty of people who sell the (later) model of 30-round double-stack magazine (typically used for 8mm and .30-06). I have plenty of those magazines. It's worth noting that people sometimes (mistakenly) describe the 30-round double-stack mags as 25 round mags. That is incorrect. The double-stack mags are always 30 rounds. What I am looking for are the longer single-stack magazines. Below are some photos, showing both next to each other. I am looking for the longer and thinner (single-stack) mag. The shorter and thicker one is the 30-round double-stack for comparison. If someone can find me some, I would be VERY grateful. I currently have a relatively early model Madsen, which can ONLY take the single-stack mags. Unfortunately, the mags are not interchangeable. Luckily, I do have a few of the single-stack mags, which came with the gun when I bought it. But it would be nice to have more mags, because these are quite fragile, and bend easily (since they are made of brass). http://www.ar15.com/media/viewFile.html?i=93017 http://www.ar15.com/media/viewFile.html?i=93011 http://www.ar15.com/media/viewFile.html?i=93012 http://www.ar15.com/media/viewFile.html?i=93014 http://www.ar15.com/media/viewFile.html?i=93015 View Quote Are you living at Steyr-Aug's house? |

Is it possible that a previous owner, in the same situation you are, made (or had made) the oddball mags that you have? I don't think that's the case. I am confident that the magazines were factory made for this contract. The fact that the Danish expert had never seen magazines like that before is because they've never been used on Madsens used in Denmark (and probably Europe). Since everything points to this gun being part of a south American (Brazilian) contract, likely it was based off some request from the purchaser. Madsen would basically customize the gun for any contract, so there's a HUGE number of variants possible. |
