Holy shit... that actually sounds like they're getting back to their roots.

Quoted: Slightly. It's nearly impossible for old guys who have been wealthy for many decades to reproduce the original angst/anger. Of course but it sounds a lot more like old school Metallica than anything they've put out in the last 20 years. |
Sounds like more of the same ole same ole they've been putting out for several years.
I like it. It is better than Hardwired. I wish they would have played this in Minneapolis when I saw them a few weeks back!
I can dig it. It's much better than the bulk of the shit that they've put out in the last twenty years.
You folks gotta quit expecting a bunch of 60 year olds to beat the shit they put out on MoP. Ain't gonna happen. |
If the album is as good as the 2 singles, it will be the best thing they've released since ...And Justice For All. Still not the same though.
This is actually good.
Has a good chorus. Verses are good. The versus turn into something that is more reminiscent of Megadeth. |
Better than the first one as I recall. I'll give it a 3.75 out of 5 for now.
You would think that with Metal on the rise they would be doing more to get back to being a metal band. |
This has all the familiar elements to 'old' Metallica, and Kirk just threw down a pretty decent solo.
I liked it |
To me, it sounds like Metallica. They always sounded the same. I like Metallica, though, so it isn't a bad thing.
Hell yeah
It makes me want to work our or throw shit around my house |
Hetfield have that monotone drone going? He must, because he can't sing.
Some of you are still living in 1988, apparently. I wish I was 18 again too but come on...
Compared to what people think "music" is today(mostly auto tuned electronic no-talent crap), this is great. |

Old rich guys should stay away from metal and punk. No one wants to see a Slayer show in Branson. JMO of course. |
Not crazy about it.
But, the drums sound a million times better than they did on St. Anger. |
Damn, is hell freezing over. I like this better than Hardwired; might have to actually buy this upcoming album.

Generally, I would agree but this was not your standard angry at the world metal that only young people ought to be able to shout. This is actually, what old guy metal, guys who have been there done that should be. The lyrics are strong, and dare I say, a positive message or maybe more of a warning that members of Metallica had learned years ago. The music and instrumentation is strong, a little less thrash than their old stuff. All in all, they pull it off. |
I like it and for guys just a little older than me and I am on backside of 45. Compared to music coming out now this will definitely get added to a playlist.

That "mosh riff" they use in the middle/second half is ok... but the rest if fuckin' stupid.
I hate that melodic stuff that Metallica tries to do.... when James sort of moans like his boyfriend is pulling out..... its super ghey! If by "IT" you mean the dick that's been in Kirk's mouth since the late 80's, then yes, your are correct.... Kirk still has it. |

Rock is dead. Rock stations on the radio are now oldies channels playing nothing but shit from the 90s and sporadic Five Finger/Breaking Benjamin.
Sounds more like something off of the Black album. It is okay, but is really nothing like Master of Puppets, Blackened, One, The Thing That Should No Be and the like.

They pinched the lows out of his voice. It's good but it really needed that power the lower frequencies provide in the voice. |
Not the greatest, but it's way better than all the pop/edm/hiphop junk which has infested mainstream music.
When the drugs ran out and they became multi millionaires is when their music went to shit.
