It's pretty good for chain BBQ if you're in an area not known for for BBQ.

It's OK for a chain place but nothing special. For chain BBQ places Dickey's is better IMO.

BBQ is good stuff.   And, well.......it's expensive at Famous Dave's.

Never been there, but I have had their sauce before.

This is good stuff here. Not NEARLY as spicy as the name/art would have you believe, but very good flavor.

Yup. None of the real good local hand smoked barbecue houses around don't do beer or football, so Famous Dave's was the ticket for Saturday and Sunday entertainment.

I liked it because of all the different sauces you could try.

Dickey's came in up here and made a decent splash, but quality started going downhill after about a year. The employee profile shifted from "professional food service" to McDonald's cast-offs, and quality went right with it. Screwed up orders, chunks of plastic in with my brisket.

My sons and I used to go about once a week.  I was on an email list, and on a week night they used to have specials, like a reduced entree or free dessert.  That made it reasonable.  That stopped, and now we go about once a year.  I really liked their baked beans.  The kids would devour a full trash can lid feast (their shtick is that they serve one of their multi-serving platters on a regular metal trash can lid) with me eating the beans and a little meat.  Regular price on that was about $60, which is pricey for big eaters.

It is one of the few that I have been too that has had truck parking close to it because of the areas that they have been built in. It will do in a pich when you want BBQ but it is by far not the best.

I haven't found any place locally that's better than what I can do on my egg, so that's what we eat.

It's good enough for beginner BBQ. That's how it happened in MI, once Famous Daves came to town they did gangbuster business and now there's a lot of pretty decent (for the North) barbecue restaurants here.

And I do thank Famous Dave for that.

No.

Roscoe's BBQ, Danny Edwards, KC Joe's, Wyandotte, Hayward's, and Rosedales is good BBQ.

You would need to visit the BBQ capital of the world (Kansas City) to experience it.

Dickeys sucks, famous Dave's is passable .

Their beans suck, the ability to swing by and get a half pound of brisket is nice on keto though.

As a chain BBQ, Dave's doesn't compare to Rudy's. I buy my sauce mail order from Rudy's, and then use it sometimes on Dave's brisket.

Yep.  I enjoyed the one we had here, but it's been gone about 10 years.  The portions were quite large, and the sweet tea was good too.

Dave's here is hit or miss.  Brisket is my favorite and their's isn't bad usually, but when it's overdone, it's awful.
Overall, not bad for a chain though. Love their cornbread and mac & cheese.

All things considered, Dave's is a dam good place. He is a staple in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Now who can raise their hand and say they ate at the original joint? I can!

They made a good showing here in LR, about a year and a half in it went to shit. Place was closed in the last go around of closings. Miss it very much for the StL style ribs.
