Picked up 3 Federal Automatch @ $17.42 each today ...they had 9 boxes, he limited me to 3 boxes..I also picked up 2000 rounds of Winchester M-22 last weekend($50.84 each)...first time I've ever seen those there, guess I got lucky on those.

usually a few 50 or 100 rnd boxes from time to time, but this weekend they were stocked with all kinds of quantities and brands, even a couple boxes of the 1,000 rounds for $50

My local Wally World just filled the shelf they normally have devoted to it with other calibers because it was always empty.

I see reports like the above one and go check out of the local Chimarts, always end up disappointed. They don't have anything, haven't had it in months, etc.

I think these reports of I found Ammo in Walmart are just anomalies.

Yep, exactly.. I checked all 3 Walmarts close to me.  So much frustration that I gave up looking.

I will buy 9mm for 20 cents each before I buy 22LR for 10 cents each.

Just screw them.

same here. I don't think they bother to order it now. There's been an Out off .22 sign on the case for quite some time

At my local wally, i saw a shelf full of stingers, and i walked right pass it. I REFUSE TO PAY 13 CENTS/ round for .22 ammo.

+1

I have been buying 12 gauge 'target rounds' #8 and #7.5 for 15 cents each versus 22LR for 10 cents each. If you want to do hunting, it makes so much more sense.

if it's about self-defense, there are better more cost-effective calibers, you can find nine mil for not much more, even 380 or 32. So that doesn't make sense either.

I was going to get a Ruger 10/22 but with the price insanity decided to build a 9mm carbine instead.  Ammo is always there, it's not that much more expensive and a hell of a lot more practical.  If I hunted , I wouldn't use Ruger 10/22 anyway since 12 gauge is so much more practical and not significantly more expensive.

22LR made sense at 2 - 3 cents per round and does not make any sense at 8 or 10 CPR.

At my WalMart you have to ask.  It is kept locked in the cabinet with all pistol ammo. That said, we have it regularly. If fact, the other night the sporting goods guys was asking everyone that walked by if they needed 22 ammo.  He had tons of CCI in the cabinet.

Not a round to be found at our local Wally World, I checked last night and the guy just laughed at me, I did find 1000 rounds at one of our locally owned sporting goods store, but nada at Wal Mart.

Check frequently (2x month) - 4 times in 4 years on the shelf.

It never goes on the shelf here, in one door out the other. If you want Walmart .22, go to the pawn shops and pay the scalper price, that's where it all goes.

The 22LR suppliers still haven't been able to produce enough to stock my local WM (Pacific NW).

I don't even bother trying to buy ammo at Walmart any more. Even if they have it in stock, then you still have to find someone to open the case and get it for you. It's worse than trying to buy tobacco at Sam's Club.

Yes finding someone to open up the case is a bitch. Last time I was at Walmart the head Asian guy waiting to and he felt the clerk was rude so he told her about herself.

I was just in mine and was surprised to see that the .22 was well stocked. CCI and Winchester stuff.
Most .22 I have seen there in months.

Still the 3 box limit.
I took my obligatory 3 100 rd boxes of CCI Mini Mags and went on my way.

Hard to pass up a $7.47 a box even though I already have shit tons of .22
