This. Lol. How important are we? Ever hear of an auto-crewman? Lol! I'll pass 5000 hrs in the mighty Herc this year, half in the back pushing pallets and the rest center seat. Oh. I forgot. A ride from Fujira to Bahrain in an H53. Never again. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I've been a passenger/cargo on the following aircraft:
UH-1 CH-47 UH-60 C-130 C-141 C-5A C-17 On several occasions I actually landed in them. A few times I jumped from them. Does that count? AALTW. |

I've taken off in military aircraft. I never landed while still in one.

Just a couple rides in the back of a c-130
T-37 Tweet. Got to take the stick for a bit. Did some aileron rolls, tried to keep it straight and level. We were the last year (1986) when all AFROTC cadets got to take the T-37 orientation flight during the summer field training. The next year I heard it was just pilot and navigator candidates. Everyone else just got a couple minutes at a simulator. It was fun. It also sucked being blind as a bat and knowing you could not do this in the military. Later I got my own cessna 150 and flew it a lot (as a private pilot) |

Did I make it in befo the heavy hitters?
Lowly civi pilot. Never flown any mil aircraft |

Many. I flew in a C130 that flew through a storm, talk about a rollercoaster! Wind shear drops that felt like the plane dropped for miles with a sudden jerking stop at the bottom that rattled our teeth, we weren't even sure we were still in the air! The vomit was ankle deep by the time we landed... (joke)

Option for ex-military?
Then I have P51, T6, T28, Stearman, OH58 and UH1. |

Yes. Plane. I dated a pilot (several of them actually) who flew a C130.
It was a dinosaur at the time. |

Just curious how many arfcommers have actually been in the air on a military aircraft. If your one of the lucky civilians who have flown on a military aircraft you count too. Civilian aircraft used as charters do not count. Unfortunately the only military aircraft I have flown on was a POS C5, we flew from McCord to Louisville, Ky then back. No windows and the pos broke down delaying our return. View Quote Where was the C-5 from? What broke? How long was the delay? |

Rode a C141 from Rhein Main to Riyadh for desert storm. Flew back on a commercial jet. It was fun carrying 6 M16's on a commercial plane. Lol

Non military historical flight, at SRQ Jones aviation.Aluminum Overcast B-17.One very exciting interesting and educational experience.
Gives a person an appreciation for those who flew against axis powers in WW2.If you have the opportunity, I recommend you try it. |

Never got to ride in a B-52...but I did stand on the ground and look DOWN on the top of one IN FLIGHT.

I got a M88A1 airborne once. Does that count? Alright, we need the story on that. We have rules! I was doing my road test for my drivers license in Higg's '88 which didn't steer very well. (HHC 1/5 Cav, 1st Cav, 1988) I ran off the tank trail over a culvert. Tim L, still signed off on my license with the provision that he never had to be my passenger again. The issue never recurred and I do not recommend getting one of those off the ground, ever. |

Not like we didn't do this in April of this year. Search, it's a motherfucker. I've been in a 88 that I swear had to have been airborne at some point. We were on a fairly straight dirt road through the training area towing a Bradley. Judging by the rough ride the driver was attempting to jump something. Had to be. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

We were on a fairly straight dirt road through the training area towing a Bradley. Judging by the rough ride the driver was attempting to jump something. Had to be. Meh, Brads were nice and light. Scariest moment driving was at NTC with a 60 ton M1 in tow. I somehow got it up to about 20 mph and the trail crested a hill. If there had been a sharp turn just over the crest, it could have been bad. (my actual MOS was a 63T which was a Bradley mechanic, it is now a different designation) |

Should start "what military aircraft have you owned " thread
Then the penis measuring can really commence. |
