See y'all bastards in two weeks. I'll try to check in to see how Trump did in the debates. I'm sure I'll get accurate information on here!

Journey around Italy. This time of year, The weather is pretty damn nice. I would recommend driving up to San Marino or Florence, through the mountains. The small towns , roads and views are spectacular.

Make your way to San Gimignano. Great little town with excellent food. I'd stay in Rome as little as possible. Do the tourist stuff then leave as the food and wine is poor and gets better the further you get from Rome.

Have a great time.
As I always say: You can travel all over the world, but you have to go to Italy to Rome. |
|
Cacio y Pepe, wine, gelato, repeat. Enjoy.

Rome is great, but don't keep anything in your pockets. Those little bastard gypsy kids are fast as hell. If you want some real roman ruins take the train to Ostia, it was so cool and not touristy. |

Rome is my main concern as I'm a YUGE amateur Roman historian so this is something very important to me. The outside towns we'll be checking out is Ostia Antica, Tivoli, Pompeii, Capri, Naples particularly for Herculaneum and the museum, which I was told was the best for Roman ancient history. As for something outside of ancient history we'll be checking out Tuscany on a day of extreme wine drinking, and castle viewing. That's our "Hope we can remember day." I'm amped. |

Take large amounts of sedatives before you get in a taxi.
Roman taxi drivers make NYC taxi drivers look like the Amish. Scariest fucking ride of my life. |

I'm going to roam Walmart in a few minutes myself...
Have a nice time in Italy |

I'm jealous! Been there twice and would go back tomorrow if I could! Gonna be a good time of year to go too!

This suggestion and your avatar are perfect together I was %100 sober when I went to Rome. Scouts honor. We took a cab from the airport to our hotel. Lane markers are mere suggestions, as are speed limits. The shoulder is a perfectly acceptable place to drive at 80 MPH while blowing by stationary cars with millimeters of clearance. I'm not a religious man by any stretch. But you bet your ass I spoke to Jesus on that trip. |

Just got back from 2 weeks there with the wife, and my 4 and 7 year old kids. It was my 2nd time there and we had an bsolute blast. Walked 60 miles in 10 days
Highly recommend eating at Sette Oche in Trastevere - about a 15 min walk from the Pantheon. Also, if you are going to eat in Piazza Navona, eat at Bernini Ristorante in the NE quadrant. Also, do not miss climbing to the top of Castel Sant'Angelo for the best pictures in Rome! |
|
Buy your tickets to museo botghese and the vatican before you go.
Also the vatican tour skips over most of the museum just fyi you can Break free from the tour and see the museum and join back at the Sistene chapel which is the last stop before they exit. Small non tourist restaurants are best but even the worst tourist Trap near the vatican will have better italian food then anywhere in America. |
|
Very Important ProTip: when you exit the Sistene Chapel - go out on the right side! I can't stress this one enough.

They have just reopened the Spanish Steps to tourists after a major reconstruction.

The entire crowd was in the street in front of the fountain - but still, not the same and chillin on the steps. |

Neat city and tons of sights to see. Even for people that aren't religiously inclined, the Vatican is a must see as well. Just awesome and you can feel the history moving through that place.

My ex wife just got back and brought me some sausage and cheese from Switzerland. Those Europeans are socialist fuckers but good god they know how to eat .

My dad got pickpocketed by two girls while we were there. One came up jabbering and begging while trying to touch his arm while the other swiped his wallet during the confusion. We looked around in trash cans for it afterwards and they were filled with dumped wallets and purses. |

Feel free to IM if you need any pointers. I try to make it to Rome once a year.
