Having some Sazerac Rye tonight.

I started trying a lot of different Rye Whiskeys a while back and bought this bottle of Sazerac several months ago.

I have really liked most of the rye whiskeys that I have tried but I'm not really enjoying this one.

It has a very distinct flavor sort of like cloves.

Forcing myself to finish it off a little at a time.

At least it's better than the bottle of Templeton Rye I had. Poured that crap out.

The last of my bottle of Old Rip Van Winkle that was stored in a decanter because I sold the empty bottle for $100+ on ebay.  Been meaning to parlay the money into a new bottle of bourban.

I sold two empty Pappy bottles on Ebay a while back.

A 12 year old lot b and a 20 year old.

Can't remember what they went for but it is crazy what people will pay for an EMPTY bottle.

This one was even more collectable because in 2012 they changed the bottle style.  I only paid $47 for it full.   I still have a 12year lot b to sell.

Tonight it's Woodford, but I favor choices.

Blanton is the go to, but Four Rose's, Elijah Craig small batch, Bullitt and always available here for tasting.

That's because they are refilling them with swill, putting fake seals on and reselling for secondary prices.

Bourbon is as American as you get.  It contains the spirit of trees that have been here and watched Native Americans.

I'll pick up a bottle next time.

I almost exclusively drink rye whiskeys.

Templeton is my go to, but I'll check this out.

Thanks gents.

Anyone that mixes Makers Mark with anything other than ice, should be punched in the face.

Yep. Rotgut, marketed well. Much better with a mixer.

Interesting you should post this now.  Just returned with my second bottle of Four Roses Single Barrel, Barrel Strenght, OESV.  It's 55.7% and 10 years, 6 month old.  First time I've had OESV.  It's now my favorite Four Roses.  Flawlessly balanced in every aspect.  Jonathan from Maisanno's Spirits sure know how to pick fine barrels of bourbon.  If you see any OESV be sure to try it.  Time for a second glass.  Cheers.

Had Jim Beam Rye and Coke tonight. Hate rye by itself, but it's magical in Coke. Then poured me and my wife and my friend some JW Blue to today my friends new house.

I gave him an AR15 as a house warming present. He doesn't know yet that he's getting a plate carrier setup in January as the second half of that gift.
