Different reason.

That was literal rather than figurative.

I honestly think that's the case for most voters, of either party.

No many people really support Hillary. She's just not Trump. And outside of a few rabid (and loud) zealots who worship at the altar of the cult of personality, Trump doesn't have many real supporters either. Just people who will vote for him because he's not Hillary.

It is what it is.

So sort of like the endorsement Reagan gave Ford, albeit was at the convention.  Which Teddy fell short of and was wrong.

Yep.  Nobody wants to be the one without a chair when the music stops.

Glad Cruz came around.  He can certainly be an asset to our side, even though I remain convinced he'd be awful as the nominee.  Imagine "Hillary does 'Between Two Ferns'" awkwardness the entire time.

Probably not.

Texas is going red anyway. I'll sleep just fine on election night.

Plus, there are plenty of other worthy (and more local) items on my ballot that deserve my attention.

Cruz fan here, and I agree.   But, I figured he'd come around sooner or later.  Cruz understands the damage a Clinton administration would cause.

I'm a Cruz guy, but pragmatic enough to understand what's at stake in this election and was planning to vote Trump regardless.  I'm glad to see Cruz endorse Trump.

Now let's move forward together and win this damn thing.

It wasn't bullshit, but now its not an issue. Cruz has done the same analysis that many other people, who have also had reservations about Trump, have done.

Yes he should have.  All the hate and negative energy towards him would have disappeared.  The selfish prick caused it all.

Why is he announcing it Friday afternoon, that is when the news cycle ends and when people release things that they want to have buried over the weekend.  He should have done it Wednesday either this week or next.

People follow the "news cycle"? Who does this? In 2016?

I saw it on my Facebook feed a few minutes after he posted it. So did millions of other people. Is CNN supposed to spoon feed it to me or something?

To late...

Profoundly sad day for me.

Disappointment does not begin to describe.

Maybe it is time to go to the mountains for a while. (Read below and notice the knives prodding that direction)
Again, disappointment doesn't begin to describe my feelings.

America is an idea, not a country. When we discuss the destruction of our country, that is vastly different than the destruction of an idea.

I fear the idea is already lost, due to the panic of losing ones comfort and country.

There are many things that I believe that I will never say, but I shall never say the things I do not believe.

Come what may.

The founders meant it much differently when they said: join or die.

Welcome to the big tent. GOP / DNC 2016 join or die.

Long live the idea of the republic.

Edit to add: Will be interesting to see what he does Monday morning and if he and his clown car comrades continues his crusade against Trump.

Lug is exactly correct--- look ahead, not back. It's like I used to tell the children, ''All's well that ends well''. But hey, this assures me that I am quicker to make the correct decision than Cruz--- I decided this months ago. [ I was originally Cruz supporter until he went around the bend- possibly he is coming back ]

Yes he should have, but good to see the unification nonetheless.

Bit surprised that my Senator did not include 2A as one of the Big 6 listed, given he's always been a staunch advocate and much is at stake.

Ted Cruz probably has a lot of pull with people who like him (I have none with...anybody). In that sense, it's likely that his statement today will have convinced tens of thousands of fence sitters (many in swing states) to vote for Trump. From a Trump fan's perspective, is there a downside here?
