Beethoven sucks. It's for little old ladies knitting in their rocker.

Great composer, one of the few that used all the instruments in an orquestra.

Oh bliss! Bliss and heaven! Oh, it was gorgeousness and gorgeousity made flesh. It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now. As I slooshied, I knew such lovely pictures!

Come hear me conduct beethoven with the Philharmonic Orchestra in Hermosillo, sonora Mexico on sept 22!
Mui bueno. Beethoven is the fundamental composer; his obsessive sense of rhythm and his visionary approach to breaking tradition made him one of the great contributors to what we know as 'western civilization.' We are defined to a large extent by our art. Beethoven was part of the German contribution to what we value most today. The US was a product of that great culture, which was only falteringly realized in Europe. Knowledge of our heritage is one important component in preserving that heritage. If you don't "get" Beethoven, it's okay-- but understand he was a cultural "founding father" for what we value today. |

He never got his picture on bubblegum cards, did he? Have you ever seen his picture on a bubblegum card? Hmmm? How can you say someone is great who's never
had his picture on bubblegum cards? |

I love most of the great classical composers, but I really have a thing for piano pieces. Variations and suites. The Goldberg Variations in particular. Bach's Goldberg Variations as played by my second favorite pianist, Glenn Gould. I was raised on this stuff; dad played the greats on the baby grand we had in the living room. BTW, how can *anyone* but an Islamist not like Beethoven? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEkXet4WX_c View Quote You are a fortunate man, to have had that exposure and experience. It is lacking for most kids today. |

I enjoy the Beethoven symphonies, but can't get into Fidelio (wife saves husband). Italian opera is better.
