Nope.
It's the otherway around with me and her. When the tub of our 12 year old washer broke it was all I could do to get her to accept the new one. When the +25 year old SEER 8 AC finally died (I had to shake it to get it to turn over) she wanted to get a couple more years out of it ... the SEER 14 unit paid for itself in the first few years. We had an old microwave that you had to fiddle with the door with to get it to start ... it was +15 years ago when I replaced it with a new one for less than $150. |

My last year in Florida, I worked double shifts and weekends to catch up on bills and pay off her car. Just before I left, I made the mistake of doing a brake job and having the rotors turned at a local shop. They weren't done right and the brakes pulsed. Didn't have time before I left to have them redone.
Instead of taking the car in for a brake job, she traded it in on an SUV. |

I tell my wife i discovered that thankfully it was just a glorified battery and her response was "well it would have been nice to get a new air conditioner, everything in this house is getting old." I understand women love spending money, and love spending their husbands money way more than earning their own and spending that, but do most womens love of 'nesting' trump common sense and logic to this degree? Isnt this kind of like "your tires are worn out, time for a new car."? On a side note, i once bought an invisible fence for our new puppy, it was a shock device he wore and inside of the house a transmitter you set the distance on. It worked well and the dog learned the borders in about 2 weeks. We got a second dog and i tried finding the device to no avail. I asked monica if she'd seen it, she had. She said she tried it recently and it didn't work anymore so she threw it in the trash. I slapped my forehead, it takes batteries and i took the batteries out when we put it in storage. It cost $150. Picked a winner, didn't you? |

When a washer has a major failure (cracked transmission size) replace them. Usually by then the parts are getting scarce. |

If you have the cash it is ok to buy things just cause you want them not just because you need them. If a wife wanted a new washer and money was not tight I would tell her to get what she wanted. If it would give her piece of mind to have a new ac I would get one if I could afford it. Everything doesn't have to make sense.

LOL!! Front loaders... when they fail they make an unusual sound ... sounds like "I told you so"
THEY SUCK!!! They are pieces of shit and money pits... they are moldy, over engineered leaky boat anchors... RUN from them. ALWAYS get a top loader. When you fill a glass of water, do you fill it from the top or do you fill it sideways? THINK about that. They have become such pieces of shit that we refuse to work on them anymore. You fix one thing then a month later a board burns out or a gasket tears or the clothes smell bad and its always MY fault that it broke... Yeah... LOL OK. |
