Quoted: Exactly. But discussion is fun. I'll throw out Singletary. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: That's like saying who's the best bass player I'll throw out Singletary. I'll agree with that. He changed the position forever. |

Laurence Taylor. He's arguably the greatest football player of all time.

Singletary or Romanowski. Funny thing, I used to know a gal that was friends with his wife and house-sat for them many times. She said that he was always extremely nice, even when fans were annoying. |

Inside? Lambert, Butkus, Lewis
Outside? LT, Ham, Brooks THOMAS. ETA - I don't know where I got brooks from . I remember watching the game between the chiefs and seahawks with Warren Moon. That was an absolute fluke considering I only watch games involving a couple of teams. Thomas was on fire and could not be stopped. How many times did he sack Moon? It was ridiculous. |

I'm torn between Butkis and Taylor...with some Tim Rossovich thrown in.
Rossovich was just plumb crazy. He'd eat light-bulbs and drink motor-oil. On one occasion he lit himself on fire while ringing the doorbell at a party. He was just as nutz on the field. Eagles.

Derrick Thomas had a great career, albeit a short one.
The only people who didn't enjoy watching L.T. play were his opponents. Dick Butkus. |

My personal favorite story about Dick Butkus-
When I was young, my stepfather told me the story about a running back accusing Butkus of biting his hand at the bottom of a pileup. "Look what you did to my finger," the running back supposedly said, holding up a bloody digit. Snarled Butkus: "It wasn't me. If I'd bitten you, you wouldn't have a finger left Copied from an article I never saw him play outside of old NFL films, but I met him a few times and he was always very pleasant with fans. |

LT no question. Some of the responses are View Quote He was certainly the greatest pass rushing LB of all time. Linebacker is such a diverse field though. Almost like trying to compare safeties. I mean, how would you answer Ed Reed vs. Darren Woodson? Both were great, both played safety, but they were so different in their styles and what they brought to the field it is almost impossible to compare them. |

True linebackers not hybrid D ends (Taylor types)?
Singletary he could do it all. Stop the run check. Pass coverage check. He was a better quarterback than McMahon was... He ran Buddy Ryan's defense like a fine tuned machine. I love me some Butkus but I truly believe he could not play in today's game not fast enough ect, Singletary could step on any team today and be a pro-bowler, he was the prototype as much as Lawrence Taylor was to D ends/outside backers. |

WTF... Urlacher was 6'4", 255lbs, ran 4.57 at the combine, a 4.47 at his pro-day, benched 225# 27 times, broad jumped over 10 feet... He wasn't just a "scrappy", heady, white guy with heart. Dude was a freak athlete. |

Jack Lambert.
There are a 'Lot of the Best' Watch some you-tube video, I love when the QB's pretty much drop when he is coming at them. He, and the other Great LB's, their style probably would not be 'legal' in todays game. |
