There have additionally been foreigners who died in our uniform (and who were never citizens) who have had ships named after them. It's hardly some novel or unprecedented thing. Nothing wrong with it, either, as long as it's for the right reasons. Honouring our allies is certainly no wrong. Whatever his flaws before, during, and after the war, Churchill was one of the principal leaders of one of our greatest wartime allies We even have (or at least had; not sure if it's still going on) an exchange programme with the RN, whereby we swap officers, and the RN officer serves aboard the Churchill. The first such officer can even be seen in the pictures taken at the Churchill's commissioning ceremony. |

The captain who led Destroyer Squadron 2 was cashiered Wednesday amid an investigation into inappropriate conduct.
Capt. Tony Simmons, head of the Norfolk-based squadron, was fired by Carrier Strike Group 12 head Rear Adm. Roy Kelley on Wednesday after an investigation prompted a "loss of confidence in his ability to command," according to an official release. "Capt. Anthony L. Simmons was relieved of his duties by Kelley due to loss of confidence in his ability to command as a result of failure to demonstrate the exemplary conduct expected of those in command," the Naval Surface Force Atlantic release said. If I was to have taken a path in life that made me a commodore in the U.S. Navy I would like to think that I would do everything I could to not jeopardize that position.
Because that a pretty bad ass position.
